Anyone has or had issues with the DRL not turning on?

My lights have the DRL option ticked on but are not turning on, it goes on randomly and then it stays off.

Anyone encounter this issue?

Thank you

They are only on when the truck is in other than Park or Neutral.

Have you been using Forscan by chance?

Are your headlights on all the time then and no low beam - DRL, or is it just no lights period?

Might try cleaning - the light sensor on the dash and clean windshield in front of rear-view mirror

Cycle Headlamp Switch, De-Select DRL in options menu and Auto-High Beam Option and select it back on.

Place Truck in Neutral, Set Park Brake (Firmly) while you do this, While in Neutral you can troubleshoot as long as the gear is out of park, the DRL is available AND bright enough to not trip the sensor to activate the headlights (on) (Auto-Lamps)

Basically, force cycle the options

You may have a bad headlight bulb and the BCM is deactivating the DRL, Current Protection within the BCM.
If you have a scanner that can read body (B) and Communication (U) codes, you may see a fault code. Note: B and U codes generally wont trip the check light, it can only be seen with scanner or ForScan
So, if none of the easy options above fix issue, check all of your lighting and see if you notice any of them dimmer than the rest, mainly Low Beam Headlights, then scan and perform BCM module reset, or try pulling BCM fuse for (1-Minute) and reinstalling
I'm leaning more towards bad headlight bulb, causing high resistance in the circuit and the BCM is killing power (Internal Protection) plus check the park light bulbs in the headlight assy as well they tie into the DRL as well

No, what is it?
Obviously you have not.....
ForScan is a program you can purchase (need interface cable too), that allows you to tie into your factory programming for the Ranger and make changes to the default files. There are quite a few adjustments that can be made. There is a forum for this subject on Ranger5g.....

DRLs are mandatory here in Ontario, and frankly, I think that they're more trouble than they're worth. I lost count a long time ago of the number of times I've ended up behind some dumbass who's "running dark" (i.e. doesn't have taillights lit) because they see their DRLs shining in front of them, and think that they've got the actual headlights lit up. I've even pulled up next to some, knocked on their window, and had to explain to them that they were "running dark". I'm not a real big fan of automating everything, but in the case of these idiots, I'm all for the auto-light option.

It's bad enough in the summer, when it only gets dark around 9pm or so, and is light before most people get on the road in the morning, but in the winter when it's dark for both the morning and afternoon commutes, it's down-right dangerous.

On top of it all, I remember reading an NHTSA report a few years back that did a multi-year study of DRLs across all US jurisdictions, and determined that DRLs did not make a statistically significant difference to the number of accidents, which is what they're claimed to do. Lastly, having ridden motorcycles back in the day, I much prefer it when the motorcycles are the only ones lit up all of the time; makes them a damn sight easier to spot in the rearview mirror. If your jurisdiction doesn't mandate DRLs, and some wit tries to make it so, be very much opposed to it.
