Has anyone tried swapping out the built-in inverter (with appropriate wire upgrades)?

Alternatively, does anyone have photos of the inverter's location in the truck?

I'd love to just swap out the tiny inverter with a 200W pure sine wave inverter.

Numerous sites on web...just google up How to mount an inverter in a vehicle...hundreds of sites come up.
But it depends on size of inverter as to where it will be mounted. Larger inverters produce heat, so under hood or bed (out of moisture) is best.
Some smaller units, like a 1000 watt can be wired to battery via alligator clips that come with them. Their portable..when needed you just take it and clip to battery like a compressor....when done, un-clip and stow it away. Larger units can be permanently mounted and hard wired to the battery and kept under hood or in an enclosed water resistant box in bed with some type of venting.
Haven't looked, but seriously doubt that there is enough room where the original is, rear of console where plug is, to mount anything larger. Even a small 1000 watt is about 1/2 the size of a shoebox.
I have been thinking of mounting a box in the bed with a 2000 watt inverter, and simply running wires to battery. Would let me run a decant 115 volt portable air compressor.
This simple one is 9 inches x 6 inches x 3 inches.
A 200 watt pure sine unit is almost the same size, but can be run via direct clips to battery or with a simple cigarettes' plug into an outlet. Smaller one could be mounted under dash or on console side.

From reading other's posts, I believe it's inside the floor console, at the rear where the plug is.
