I hesitated posting this because the first time it happened, I thought it was all in my head. But it has happened several times since. I turn the key and as engine kicks in the initial rev up, I feel this bump, like someone kicking the bumper or something. I tried searching but obviously not using the correct search words.

Is your parking brake on when you start it? You might be feeling a slight movement of the truck until the parking paw slack is taken up if your parking brake is not on.

Would parking on level ground eliminate that 🤔?

Maybe start using remote start while your outside of it and see if you can zero in on the location...
Good idea.
Level ground, parking brake off.

Not if the truck moves slightly when started and no parking brake applied. I always use my parking brake, so I have no first hand knowledge, but there was someone on here that noticed a slight forward movement of his Ranger when starting remotely. I think the OP may be experiencing this also.

I had that happen to me once...and it bumped my garage door slightly.
Yep. Left a mark on my bumper.

Somewhere on here, there is a video of a truck in a parking garage:
During - Remote Start, the truck Rocks Forward, I do not think we got past (reason) other than Parking Pawl - Play.
It is strange to see.

Well I assumed if the truck was level , no pressure on pawl... maybe sometimes when the 10R80 spins up it surprises itself and jumps a little 🤔? I will be remote starting mine every morning now that its cold ... i think I have an extra camera somewhere 🤔, maybe ill see if my girl gets excited when she starts up ... just out of curiosity...

I think we also explored the possibility of the - Front Differential - Syncing Up with the 4WD Selector at start up - Load or Unload the Front Differential.
or
Transmission Pressure - Building Up, and if the final resting position of the truck (Parking Pawl) is at its end of travel - The truck may possibly be (Centering) itself on the pawl - To prevent - Hard to Shift - Out of Park (Issues)

IDK - Just Spit Balling at the moment

The only other possible that comes to mind is the Motor/Transmission Mounts, reacting to the torque of the start -as far as a bump feeling. I do not see this causing the truck to physically rock forward a few inches as it does in the (Video I cannot find) that was posted a couple years back.

I will add that normally when this happens, I have parked having first put the tranny in neutral, to relieve any pressure from backing up to, and making contact with, the parking block, curb thing. So everything should be without load, with parking brake off. And not using remote start, Although, if this happens with remote start, I am not in the truck to notice it. And I have not witnessed any front to rear movement to speak of. Just a slight jolt.
Also, I am not concerned at all, just very curious.
