Ok, does anyone know if there is a setting in the instrument menu to set the gear indicator to "on" as the default? 2020 Lariat here. I have to press a button on the shift lever each time I drive to get this on the display. Can't seem to find anything in the menu to set this to stay on like the other available things.. just curious..

Unfortunately you have to press it every time you drive it. Just like the auto stop start there's no default setting.

Mine has a mind of its own.

Some times it's on when I start it, sometimes I have to push the button.

1st world problems, but yeah, I'd also like to be able to default it to on.

Yep, have to press it each time...mostly. What I see is: if the truck has not set long enough to go into full sleep mode (at the store or getting gas say) when I start it again the gear list will be on (or off, which ever it was when the truck was turned off). But the next morning, it WILL be off and have to press it to see the list.

Wonder if there is a FORSCAN adaptation for this...??

Also, I am presuming most of us know what it's really for, even if we (I) don't use that way very often.
Check Page 154 of the PDF version of the owners manual for Progressive Range Selection.

As has been noted, no known Forscan fix to get it to stay up. There does appear to be a time out for it to reset.

I use it every time I tow my camper to lockout 9th and 10th gear.

I do have a PID for Torque Pro to show the gear on my phone. So it's not really a big deal for me. I keep it up with my boost and temp gauges.

Have you tried it in (S) once you do then you have to shift manually after that or put it back in (D)
who writes the software for these things?

Yep, love it on twisty mountain roads. Like having a manual 10-speed transmission.

While in (S) mode,,, press and hold the (+) button on the shifter for 3 seconds and you'll enter (Sport Auto) mode.

Then,,, you will stay in (S) mode but the truck will shift automatically just like (D) mode.

Sorry to hear about Scooby. You had 12 great years with him and at least he died peacefully in his sleep.

On a side note if you like dogs, I highly recommend the movie Togo.

It's a movie that I didn't think Hollywood could make anymore.

A very entertaining movie that everybody can watch. No profanity, nudity, political posturing or proselytizing.

Just a great movie based on a true story.
