Looking for information as to how to do a cluster swap in my XL.
Picked up a cluster from an XL,but waiting for mine to gather a few more miles.Mine has 2400 on it and the cluster I picked up has 2600 on it.

Looking for cluster removal, what has to be taken apart physically, and then if some one has been there done that, what changes in Forscan,ie,where are the changes made etc.

Thanks in advance for the knowledge.

Thank you,any other tips or insight, was kinda hoping to have a separate thread for others looking to swap.
I get tired of my little screen blanking out here in the Arizona heat.
Ford thus far, refuses to acknowledge the issue...

look at the PDF and it gives you a general location of where the fasteners are to pop them loose, I just used a plastic trim removal tool. The vinyl black cloth is attached the outer trim panel so you'll have to undo it from the top of the steering column as well be careful not to rip the vinyl, think the screws were 7 or 8 mm heads. A couple of the lower screws you'll need a short driver or a swivel socket would work too. don't drop the screws

I didn't change my cluster just removed and re-installed same unit so i can't help you with that aspect.

I switched to a lariat unit form the tiny XL one. It is pretty cut and dry. like 7 screws it comes out, un plug old one, plug in new one. load forscan with your asbuilt data, then it works like a charm. it will work without forscan, but if the one you got has features or options your truck does not have, it will cause warnings.

Did the cluster swap today, very straight forward.
From the standard XL one that would blank out in the heat....

Got it sorted, made 3 changes in IPC module configuration ,and no more lights or warnings.

Also added the TCM control knob to my truck,so now I have those cool features!
