Nope. Not myself. I don't think that highly of myself for that.

But I am excited that I set up a camera inside an owl nest box in my backyard and I'm live streaming it as of the other day. No nesting (yet), but I'm hoping for a nest in a month or two. Right now, I've got an eastern screech owl using it for roosting during the day. Little owl probably has other roosts so it isn't there every day. But it does stop by regularly. Sometimes it leaves food in the box for a few days. Right now it looks like there might be a couple owl pellets inside.

I'd like an owl, if nothing else just to keep the mice away. Can't have an outdoor cat as it'd get killed by coyotes most likely. You just build the box and they show up to the party?

yeah. I mean, I knew they were around already, though, because I've heard them calling and my security cameras occasionally picked them up.

won't work for all species of owls, though. I've not read anywhere that great horned owls will accept artificial nests of any kind. I've got those in my area, too, but so far nothing I know of to attract them (they like to eat skunks, so if you've got those around...you'll probably want GHOs). from what I've seen, it seems like barn owls and screech owls take to nest boxes easiest, so long as your box is the right size and is located somewhere they like.

I built this box last winter and installed it almost a year ago. I've been checking in with a phone app occasionally for that time, and the first time I noticed it being used was just before thanksgiving. so it might take awhile to be noticed.
