In Canada.

So, 500$, not sure what kind, the tech said he likes the jobber as opposed to what Ford has(recommends).
Your thoughts & experience for $ & use? I expect to tow a TT, 4k lbs? E-Pro or something similar.
Direction... Yukon, N.W,T & Alaska. following yr, north West US... if all stars align....
Tks.

$500 installed?
If you are a DIY'er you can get the Ford TBC for under $300. If not, maybe buy the Ford setup and pay the installer to do it. But seeing that he prefers something over the one Ford recommended, tells me he is unfamiliar as to why Ford TBC is the only correct way to go.
If you want to do it the right way, get the Ford system. It's the only one that will work with pre-collision and automatic emergency braking.

If $500 is the installed price, do it.
Very reasonable for controller and labor.

The Ford one is made by Redarc, quite literally the best company in 12v systems. I would go with the Ford one over whatever he is suggesting. Probably has a higher profit margin on the other brand.

Tks guys, remember this is in Canada where out dollar is worth 70c US.
Also, forgot to mention, this is a Ford dealership quote & their tech
comment. They claim to have installed several different types.

I would ask why they recommend Brand X over the Ford product: Easier install? Better specs? Availability?

But were they in a Ford Ranger? The other brands may work on F150's, other full-size trucks and even 4G Rangers. I think the 5G Ranger has special considerations since Ford didn't accommodate pre-collision and auto braking in the current wire harness, which is why you need the extra module.
