Have a few items arriving for my Ranger via Amazon and just checked the status. I can see the delivery vehicle moving on the map in real time.

When did Amazon start doing this?

I noticed this when I was back in AZ at least 2-3 years ago.

They only do it for certain types of deliveries, not all - not sure who/what, but you don't always see it. It seems like they are rolling it out to more types of deliveries though.

Dunno. But that's been a norm in Finland for like 10 years :)

You can even check your pizza or groceries delivery position on the map (be it car or autonomous vehicle (ie. delivery robot)).

In Colorado in some areas (Denver for one) you can get your weed delivered (legally) , would be cool if they used old 60s Chevys like Cheech and Chong drove in Up in Smoke.

Well the driver needs both sustenance and something to alleviate the dullness of the work to perform adequately to deliver your package at least near to your location. So until he/she is replaced with a robot, let him/her to have the necessary breaks and substances to provide you with the package.

Evidently this service just started in the Raleigh / Durham area. I did notice it once last week and looked for it again, and it just occurred for the 2nd time, but I had several deliveries in between where it didn't occur.

They must be using cell phones to relay the data back, as I live 250' higher than the surrounding area in a bowl that has poor cell service. I noticed the vehicle stopped moving on the amazon map right where the service drops coming into the neighborhood. A mile or two in it magically reappeared.

They have been doing it here a couple years for all deliveries by Amazon. The overnight deliveries mostly use private cars. A picture of the driver shows on the map page along with their name.

One day I was waiting for something I really needed and was tracking the truck. It was right in my neighborhood and only 2 stops away from me when he started leaving. o_O It showed him going down the road and parking in the Fry's parking lot. Just my luck he must of been taking his lunch break and I had to wait another hour.?‍♂ I know first world problems!:giggle:

That's only when delivered in a private car. Guess it's so when a car pulls in your driveway at 3am you can call out the name before shooting ?.

The could bounce it a couple times to let you know they've arrived.
