How often should the fuel pump prime itself when the truck is just sitting there?

Has there been actual confirmation that the periodic noise is priming the fuel pump? Maybe is just waking up periodically checking for software updates or other self diagnostics?

Possible as well. I know I hear relays and other things click on/off when I am near the truck and use FordPass.

If you only knew how much fuel pressure is in a direct injection pump. Remember, our trucks don't have port injection and a low pressure fuel pump.
Short story: it primes when it needs to.

Our trucks do have a low pressure fuel pump thats what folks are hearing. The high pressure pump is driven by the cam shaft so no high pressure till engine cranks.

My Lariat also only primes when a door is opened.

As does mine except the time when I had the fob with me and the garage door open and heard it prime.
