I stop smiling about any vehicle after making payments for 6 months and/or after the new vehicle smell goes away...

Still love mine, like I almost feel a similar bond that I do with my 66 Mustang (first car). When it was in the shop getting a new engine recently I started looking at new trucks because I was worried they would do a bad job (did a not good job but I digress), I realized there just wasn't a mid-size I wanted to upgrade too. The XLT Tremor has about everything I want in an interior, just the right amount of tech too without being a pain. Good power and great off-road and towing.

The GM trucks looked nice, really love the Chevy/GMC redesigns but the seats were stiff in the GMC I sat in and I had other concerns too (slow shifting trans and gearing options). Ford Ranger redesign hasn't grown on me yet outside of a Raptor but in Vegas, no chance at MSRP plus my truck is almost paid off. Toyota no way and Nissan just ehhhh.

Finally the truck is back and dialed in, so happy to have it back. My wife who hates it last night asked me "so is the truck back to normal?" and I replied yup! I am even starting to look at the upgrades I was considering before the engine issue.

Six years old, 115k miles, and still smiling. Finally replaced front pads and turned rotors (on my neighbor's brake lathe) at 114k. Did rear brakes about 30k miles ago. Strange. Had fronts off twice previously, but only cleaned everything up and put back together. Rotor pic is fresh off lathe. Dressed them up by hand later.
She's a keeper.

It’s only because I remained silent after #1 and didn’t do whatever #3 was ?. I’m learning in elder years

It is a learning process for sure

it's kind of funny this thread popped up because i was noticing the influx of new ranger buyers/introductions. it would seem we've moved into the next generation of owners.

it left me wondering how much of a "classic" the 5th gen ranger may be. i don't mean like an old muscle car. i mean, like the previous gen rangers. the "danger rangers" i believe they're called. just legendarily loved trucks. sure, the 5th gen has its transmission woes, but besides that i have a lot of faith in the vehicle and my ability to address minor issues that pop up.

then add to that the aftermarket. i think the aftermarket has done and continues to do a pretty good job of releasing tasteful mods for the truck that reeeeally make it look good, and/or make it run better.

i may or may not move into a full size truck in the future, but if i do i'll forever wish i could've kept this ranger. when it's running its best and i'm cruising down country roads in the summer time it really can be a blissful feeling.

anyway... just my ramblings on what i think is a pretty great truck

I too wonder how well they will age now with the new gen out. I think our 5G gives a nod to the 3g Ranger with the hood in particular and some variations of the grill too. Some of those 3g rangers still have pretty high resell numbers, like a modern classic truck in a way.

What makes me wonder with modern classics, stuff like the 2003 Cobra is an example that should be easy to keep running for years on end but these new vehicles we have include so much tech, how well will they age is my question. How many will be around in +20yrs.

I guess I am answering my own question here but the 5G Ranger has tech similar to what we had in the 2003 Mercedes E-Class, those are still nice cars despite being +20yrs old now. I sometimes get tempted to pick up a 2003-05 E55 AMG for a nice daily beater. I guess time will tell.

Bought my '19 August 29 and here I am January 5 and I'm loving the truck all the more. When I get new tires before next winter it will be a lot better in the woods. Coming from five F250s the last one being an '04 SuperDuty crew cab, long box, diesel 4x4, night and day difference. Never thought I would drive something smaller than even an F150 but the Ranger is so capable with better mpg. Currently just over 41,000 on it so I have lots of miles to keep smiling!
