Orbital mechanics. 68 degrees latitude with 23 degrees axial tilt gets you 45 degrees angle to sunshine in noon and 89 degrees at midnight (hence the sun does not go down effect).

On winter it's tough since the tilt works against us. Noon becomes 91 degrees and midnight is 135 (hence the sun never comes up).
That's what I was thinking as well.

I have often wondered how that plays with Human Physiology. I grew up 40 miles south of Miami at 25 degrees latitude. We had just a slight shift in daylight hours through the seasons. Presently living in Raleigh, NC at 35.5 latitude, and seasonal changes adversely affect me much more here.

I can't imagine how society structures itself to accommodate such dramatic changes in your environment.

Are sleep cycles affected?

The physical changes I've noticed are that it's warm and sunny in summer and cold and dark* in winter.

Some people do have depression from the darkness, but they tend to remove themself from the genepool. I'd say most of the people here have adapted in last 10000 years.

For the society it makes no difference. We got snow plows and food you need to grow in the summer anyway. Society point of view it does not differ from Germany for example. If you go down to spain then you can grow crops around the year and that's markedly different thing.

* = It's not really dark like room without windows. Due to snow it's like you're bathing in starlight dark and you get few hours of this purple haze on horizon.

I guess that first line says it all... Warm and sunny 24/7 during (at least some part of) summer, and dark and cold 24/7 (at least some part of) winter.

That is a great car! I had a 73 Fury 3 2 door and loved it except for the gas mileage.

The 1969-74 Mopar C-bodies were the most handsome full-size sedans and wagons Chrysler ever made, IMHO.

Back in the mid-late 80's, we were out cruisin' Uni (University Ave in Waterloo/Cedar Falls Iowa)....hundreds of cars and tons of people every Fri and Sat nights in the summer. A couple of us were sitting at the west end of the strip which was about 5.5 miles round trip. A guy drives by in an old hearse with the Cadillac 500 in it. The next time he came around we all yelled at him to gun it, so he did.....lost control and hit 2 cemented 3" pipes in the parking lot. We ran over, and he had 2 flat tires, and bent the 2 pipes completely over. We all looked at the front bumper and it didn't even have a scratch !!!
