I think they were available as a separate trim option. My dad's second car was a 1935 ChevroletRoadster w/rumble seat. You could also get it in the 3 window coupe. You entered from the rear of the car. There were two step pads, one the bumper one on the fender. Step up on the bumper onto the fender pad and hop in- which I believe is where that expression came from.Red Green, awesome show! I still watch it.
