Hotspot wont activate

Just joined after trying to research why the hotspot in my truck wont activate; didn't see anything in the known issues sticky.

Just picked up my 2021 Lariat Tremor last week and the hotspot wont activate. The app sends me to AT&T, I put in the vin, says vin not found, enter a valid vin. I've tried to activate on the app and the fordpass website and no joy. Currently working with the dealer I got it from and I looks like they are going to want me to take it in.

Anyone else ran into this issue? Everything else appears to be working. I tried connectivity settings in sync and it doesn't seem to do anything. I'm going to try the master reset procedure found here How do I troubleshoot issues with the connectivity settings? - FAQS | Ford US

Since AT&T cannot locate the VIN, it's unlikely that performing a master reset will solve it but it's worth a try. May want to make sure that other remote functions are working like the remote lock/unlock and start. If the cell module in the truck is faulty then remote functions may not work from the Ford app and that might explain why AT&T cannot locate it in their system because it cannot communicate with the truck. If the remote functions work and the master reset doesn't fix it then it may be that Ford did not properly update or send the correct VIN info to AT&T for your truck when it was completed. No clue what it would take to get that sorted out if that's what the issue is.

I tried the reset, didn't change anything. The rest of the features on the app work fine (lock, unlock, location, etc) so that leads me to believe that the onboard 4gLTE modem is working as it should.

I'm with you though, I think the VIN was jacked up somewhere or the database that Ford talks to ATT with doesn't have the right information for me somehow.

Still hoping someone may have some ideas. I'll report back either way once it's figured out.
