My 2022, built in February, doesn't even have the ball-joints to mount the struts. They must be running out of parts and continue to build and sell vehicles. I will definitely go looking for the parts. I hate the proprod.

2022 is the final year of this design, so they're just cheaping out.

Might not be so easy to put the ball mounts onto the truck.
I have the struts ready but wont have the mounts so i probably wont mess with the struts

Just think, you can retro fit them as heavy duty tailgate dampers.

I got curious and checked for next gen under hood videos. no hood struts either. this may not represent the US version.
This video is probably from Thailand but there is definitely a hood prop rod.

just a legit question for those who have a prop rod and are complaining about not having gas struts...how often is your hood open?
My 94, my 07 FX4 no struts . ! I don’t understand the big deal about it

but what are you fixing "often"?
i open my hood to put in washer fluid once in awhile.
i assume many many others are following my lead?
Plugging in the battery tender.

Hood struts are so choice, hearing that nnnneeeeeaaaaaarrrrr sound when I open my hood. There's no going back, a prop seems neolithic now.

More thoughts on this issue. I'm wondering if the decision to remove the struts might have something to do with the hood (and panels) changing from aluminum to steel? Steel weighs about 2X more than aluminum. Maybe the engineers felt the hood struts couldn't safely support the extra weight?
BTW: I don't mind either way. I do like to delve into the how's and why's of manufacturing and engineering issues.:)

I'm under the hood allot, and prop rods are a cheap out by any manufacturer - hate them. The 6 up switches have their connections and wiring in there, oil changes, emptying the catch can and most of all, plug in the battery tender because Silver gets long rest periods - I only leave my hidden mountain retreat when I have too - record is 6 weeks. I added them to my pre-hood struts '73 Bronco (Redline) that is real piece of thick heavy steel and was very pleased to find the Ranger had them.
