How did you hook up the positive cable to the battery? Which post did you use?
I have the same question on where you are drawing power and ground from? My 589 mount is on order.

Thanks, Danny

Ughhhhhh you are the man, this is exactly what i want to get in the future once i get more into some gnarly terrain. Having a winch definitely gives you confidence in pushing it on the trails when you're not riding in a group.

This is awesome! I want to do this and didn’t know they made a kit already. What does warranty say about this?

This is awesome! I have been looking at doing this as well. I am not worried about relocating the ACC, but I cannot find anything on how it does, or does not, effect any cooling. The winch sits right in front of one of the coolers (all though I am not too clear on which one it is).

I haven't seen a rise in temperature at all. The intercooler sits up behind the grill so you're not blocking it at all.

Here's how I got mine wired up. Ground is on the dedicated post at base of battery box, negative on the negative accessories terminal post. Lastly I connected the positive connection to an accessory post in conjunction with a 225 built-in fuse, since winches can draw a lot of power it's best to use them with the engine on.

As for the additional cable wiring, Home Depot sells 2gauge cable by the foot. But any marine/boating store will sell prepackaged 2 gauge terminal cables in 3-8 feet lengths. I would suggest the marine grade cables because they use many thin strands of copper cable vs fewer thicker strands like the cable sold at HomeDepot (much softer/ flexible like automotive cables). Made it a PITA to manipulate the cables for wiring..

I've had mine on for over a year now, and haven't had any issues with cooling, including towing a 4000lb trailer over some steep mountain passes in CO.

Thanks for the reply! I got mine installed a couple of weeks ago, the mount fit like a glove but the wiring was the harder part, all in all a great setup!

For the longest time I've always wanted a winch. As someone who enjoys going out exploring alone, it's almost a necessity to have. 589 Fab makes a mount that goes behind the factory bumper.

The install was pretty straight forward. I cut the control box bracket shorter for a cleaner look under the hood.

All that's needed now is a good muddy trail to test everything out.

Looks Great! - How long of an install did it take you?

Doesn't that entirely block airflow to the intercooler?

Hello everyone,
After having gotten stuck in a snowy ditch and needing a $2,000 tow truck rescue I have decided to install the 589 Fab winch mount on Grey, but I have a couple of questions. I understand the install will get along with the OEM Intercooler, will it work just as well with the Mishimoto Intercooler? And, it looks as though the OEM skid plate isn't an issue, is it safe to assume the same is true for the RCI skid plate? Latest question (and this might be a silly one), but I have never had a vehicle with a winch: How does it work with the winch controller? Do I just need to route it to the inside of the cab? (They guy in Jurassic Park got eaten by a T-Rex because of a bad winch controller decision o_O) I am not very experienced with electrical work on trucks, so any details on how to do the wiring would be greatly appreciated.

so when it comes to a winch you have alot of options. if you dont want to get out every time and plug the controller in a lot of company's have Bluetooth models now so the controller is wireless. so easy as (never had one lol) flip a switch on and it goes. (again ive never had a wireless so idk how long term the batteries last on the remote) if you get a hard wire controller you wont leave it connected all the time. at least i never did.. i always took mine on and off and would go plug it into the winch when i needed it and run the cable over to my mirror on the door and hook it there.

couldnt tell ya on the intercooler as i sold my ranger before adding this.

skid plate should be fine? i know a buddy of mine use to have this setup on his ranger but i dont think he is active on here anymore since he sold his truck. (if i remember his tag ill tag him)

also if you have never used a winch find a offroad park near you that is doing offroad classes or training or just watch youtube. there is a lot to be known about them so you dont hurt your self or someone else.

wiring can be simple or hard depending on what you want to do. all my trucks i just hooked them to the battery and never had an issue.
