I was looking through the FORScan spreadsheet codes and noticed coding for a heated steering wheel.
Does anyone know if a heated steering wheel from an F150 could be adapted to the new Ranger?

Anything is possible, but nothing plug and play. I'm adding the heated steering wheel to my base Lariat F-150, but I have part numbers I can look up and add from upper trims. There is nothing to add to a Lariat Ranger.

The only way it would work is if another Ford product uses the same steering column. You'll need the heated wheel, clockspring, heated wheel module and a harness plugged into the right BCM output, if that even exists on the Ranger.

I had a Fusion rental last week, I suspect that column would work for what you refer to. All very similar including instrument cluster. It had heat and also paddle shifters. Unfortunately for the Ranger, we will need to look “down” to the cars rather than “up” to F-Series for this type of thing.

I would be very interested in adding a heated steering wheel to my Lariat Ranger. To be honest, Ford should have given the loaded version of the Ranger a heated steering wheel and cooled seats.

Hi Troy,

I agree whole heartedly...Ford Marketing missed the boat in nixing the heated steering wheel and cool seats. I hate Marketing...they cost me so much with their incompetence in assessing the market place...so cost driven..not customer driven. They really $uck!

I agree. Pretty disappointed that they weren’t included... pretty much everything else was!

I only lightly looked at it but the only thing compatible is the explorer.

Wouldn't surprise me if they left it out for a future year's update to the car.

:giggle::rolleyes:Do we now need heated hands and refrigerated butts to avoid being diagnosed with toxic masculinity syndrome?
Sounds like cross-dressing for trucks... a little oxymoronic.
The commercials all show tough off-road and outdoor adventures exposing the metrosexual tough guy to the elements.
:idea:Any of you pansies out there need a nail dryer built into the armrest?

"People want options I dont care about. Must be pansies"

Everyone knows real men dont get swamp ass when its 100°F and 98% humidity.
The point they are making is that the top trim level on many vehicles, including the F-150 includes those items and it would seem to make sense that the Ranger would have gotten them too.

You post adds nothing to the discussion but vitriol.

Well bless your heart...
It was a joke, and as expected, some don't get it, or can't take it.
No vitriol intended, but I can't live my life just hoping you're not offended.
Love ya, anyway.

Hi Floyd,

Oh Yeah...I like the nail dryer idea, but need one a the feet too as I always get a Mani-Peti... Guess I will pull the fuse for the heated wheel and also the heated/Cool seats in my Lincoln MKX as I need to ensure I am not binned in the Metro bin...but a manly man... Why on earth would Ford offer such creature comforts to Manly Men?

If the Ranger Lariat would have had the heated steering wheel and memory seats available, I would be driving one right now instead of my F-150. And now that the wife has experienced cooled seats, I suspect when her Escape lease goes back, her next vehicle will include those as well.

I appreciate all this information. As I am near retirement I am thinking about having only one vehicle. As we get certain options, such as heated seats, etc. they often become mandatory when new vehicles are purchased. My wife's Grand Cherokee has a heated steering wheel and she is very often commenting how much she LOVES it! However if it means replacing the steering column and electrical connections, etc. I don't think I would get that involved. I will be ordering a Lariat this winter and I can only hope that they add this to the 2020.
