You are going to get mixed answers on this:
It is possible to just install LED bulbs - however finding the right bulb that provides error free operation and more importantly a light pattern that does not spray/ scatter the pattern that blinds oncoming drivers as well as fits into the housing (under the dust cover)
Yes, it can be done, there are MANY threads on this.

You can get a better light output, but your light pattern will never be PERFECT with Led bulbs in a Reflector Housing. PERFECT being what looks good to you, May or May Not look good to oncoming drivers.
I am quite sure you have experienced on car coming towards you and being blinded by their headlights at some point, with the truck you are sitting higher, and it only enhances that to other drivers.

I am not condemning this option; I am just pointing out the drawbacks of them.

The proper way is to spend the money and get full headlight replacements with the LED bulbs, be it aftermarket or the factory Lariat housings. However, this is the expensive option.
In my case 22 Lariat ordered, came with a LED delete due to Covid shortages, discovered at delivery on the Window Sticker, received a piddly $500 Credit - when all said and done, I wanted the truck as ordered, so with $2700 in parts (self-install-swap) I now have the truck to what it should have arrived (delivered) status.
So, I spent $2200 out of pocket to get the LEDs back.
Night and Day difference between light output (Halo vs LED)

Edit: This includes swapping the Halo Fogs over to LED - all factory (OEM) parts

Yes - true as I have documented all the changes required when I did my swap, I am nearing 2 years with the swap and zero issues with them. It just took some aiming tweaks to get them adjusted down enough to stop getting flashed, as my initial install I aimed to exactly where the Halos hit my test wall - Tape & Measured per specs - so if using specs as measurement I am just slightly under (lower) by about 1/4 inch or so.
Have not been flashed since that tweak.

My only complaint pertains to - Non-Auto Leveling headlights, coming down a hill on a dark road, you lose some forward light output (if in Low Beam) by triggering (high beam) you gain some back.
This road is a dark country road, no streetlights, lots of hills with lots of Deer.
This is why I use the - Auto High Beam - Feature, especially on this stretch of road.

That is due to the fact that in the parts manuals, XL & XLT the Lariat Headlights are not effective, because the BCM is setup for Halo's (power control & output)
All the Rangers have the exact same wire harness running to the headlights, where the power output (control) changes are within the Headlight Assembly (itself) you use Forscan to adjust how the BCM provides that power.
As with my Lariat, it had XL/ XLT Halo's installed, I swapped them over to LED and used Forscan to tell the BCM (I have LEDs installed)
The main thing that needs reprogrammed is where the DRL's are at, Low Beam Vs LED Strip, and where the Park Light is at, Park Light Bulb vs LED Strip
