Sharp ! git’ those groundhogs !

”The meat from groundhogs can be tough so the best preparation we have found to date is a long slow braise after which it falls off the bone. After a long braise, I find the flavor and texture to be very similar to dark meat turkey” ..

I've "et" one.
Cooked on a stick over an open fire. It was gamey, as you'd expect, and kinda chewy. Not great, but not the worst thing I've ever had.

I can't seem to copy the link from Fox News, sadly, but here's the headline:

Supreme Court strikes down federal ban on bump stocks

Was it the bump stocks or the pistol brace ruling? I ask because this video hit my Youtube.

The ATF's "pistol brace rule," supported by President Biden, has been vacated and is no longer in effect

Wow it was the bump stock ruling! :like:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/supreme-...bump-stocks-142254766.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall

The court found that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives overstepped its authority by enacting the ban on bump stocks, when it determined that the devices were classified as machine guns. Civilians now have access to bump stocks again.

That's never a bad thing. ?

I have no desire for one or two. lol They look like a novelty that would wear off quick especially with the price of ammo now. Probably something else that would get stuck in the back of my safe and found years later when I move. Oh wait! I know Chris will understand that one. ?

Bump stocks are lots of fun, but use .22, Too expensive otherwise.

Supreme Court made the correct ruling.

I've got letters from the ATF on both bumpstocks and shoestrings, both used for identical purposes.

But the ATF didn't come out and state that shoestrings were an automatic weapon and ban them. Or force owners to destroy personal property without compensation.

I wish to further clarify my previous entry.

On Sept 30, 2004 the ATF ruled that the 14" long shoestring with a loop on each end attached to the rifle turned the rifle into a machinegun.

On April 2, 2012 The ATF ruled that a bump stock did not convert a semi-automatic rifle into a machinegun.

I've attached the PDF files for each as the justification for each ruling is explained. Note that the ATF did not outlaw shoestrings, just 14" shoestrings attached to a rifle to enable auto firing.

The bumpstock did neither of the above. Even with the bump stock installed on a rifle it did not meet the requirements to be classified as a machinegun.

The ATF then later reversed its ruling, and stated that the bump stock itself was a machinegun (without being attached to the rifle).
