Not at all an emergency.
My son surprised me today with a $200 gift cert. to Tombstone Tactical here in AZ. I figured to try and spend that plus a little more for a reasonably solid but reasonably inexpensive handgun. That's why I was asking.

I may end up trying to get a more better-er holster for my Walther and maybe some ammo.

$200 doesn't go far at the gun store...

Take a look at the IWI Masada and Masada Slim…..still polymer and striker fired pistols, but very reliable and better triggers than most others.

I try not to comment on USA politics or related issues, but follow much of it pretty closely. The pistol brace thing is ridiculous, in fact many aspects of their attempts to fuk with AR15 platforms are. Some of the NY style grips/stocks are hilarious.

With that said, be happy you don't have Canadian levels of fukery going on. AR15s and most semi-auto, center fire rifles are now prohibited here. The government hasn't confiscated them yet, but it is in process. Most were restricted for decades, so they are all registered and they know who owns them. As is, they are now prohibited and can't be sold, transferred or even shot right now, they are just safe queens. Both my registered ARs were destroyed in my November house fire, and can't be replaced. There are only ~75,000 registered owners of ~250,000 AR type guns, out of ~40 million Canadians, so any resistance or non-compliance will be futile.

Then in October they implemented a handgun freeze. Handguns are restricted here, so again, they know who has them and where all of them are. No more sales, gives, or transfers of any kind. What you owned at the cut off date, is all your allowed to have forever, and you can't sell them or even bequeath them to your kids/family when you die (the government will come and confiscate them). I had bought/sold a bunch last summer so at least I'd have what I wanted when it happened, then lost 3 Glock frames (G17FDE, G34MOS, G35MOS) in the November house fire, which of course I can't replace now.

Both of these changes were implemented by our Prime Minister with "Order in Council" which is on par with a Presidential Order. Trudeau decided it so, and made it law. No process at all.

Not to be political or to suggest anything violent.......BUT 75,000 willing and able men with sufficient arms can do pretty much whatever they want in Canada if they unite behind the same cause. In europe, farmers are using tractors and taking over streets and gaining political power in some countries. We don't put up with as much of that crap in the US because our constitution states we do not have to, and we fight it in the legal system first and use the second amendment if necessary...second. Firearms Policy Coalition's lawsuit printer runs non-stop right now...so they get my money!

Bolt, pump, lever are all still legal for the most part.

Some semi-auto center fire rifles are still okay, but very selective, and the list can be updated on a whim, with no reason or notice. Today you go to bed with a bunch of legal rifles in your home, tomorrow you wake up with prohibited weapons and no knowledge of it. Of course the responsibility is on the individual to know the law, not on them to inform you of changes, lol.

The real problem here is that every one is registered. If the amnesty ends and the guns become fully prohibited, every owner will be charged immediately and have little to no legal defense. Conviction is almost certain, which would mean revocation of license, confiscation of all firearms, accessories and ammo. Possible to probable loss of employment and or divorce, if your employer or wife don't support firearms.

Most aren't willing to gamble everything to own an AR (even restricted means it can only be used at a range, not hunting or target shooting even on your own land).

Canada needs a reboot indeed, but it's never gonna happen without a long stretch of very hard times, which will almost certainly break the country, if not the whole global picture.

It's the 4th turning mentality:

Hard times create strong men.
Strong men create good times.
Good times create weak men.
Weak men create hard times.

Canada is farther along, but USA is dancing dangerously close to a similar path. Liberalism is an infectious, spreading disease, that has control of the education system, MSM, entertainment, most local and state governments, and influence over most of society. It is a very dangerous time for freedom and free people.

It wouldn't surprise me much, if ten or twenty years from now, all of North America is under a full authoritarian government, modeled closely to 1984.

New RMRs just came out. I think it's long overdue, just for the top loading battery. Circle dot I don't think I would use on a pistol but it's selectable reticles anyways. It looks like a much bigger window too. Retail is $850 but I am pretty sure it's going to sell for $600 to compete with the Acro P2. I don't think I like the capstan screw mounting on the enclosed model though.

And if nothing else we should see closeouts of the old RMRs, which ain't bad either.

I've been carrying a taurus g2 for the past 5 or so years with absolutely no issues. Put around 200 rounds a month with it to keep my skills sharp and its been great.

Late to this, but I also carried a G2 for a long time. Still do on ocassion. However, I now carry the Glock 30S as my EDC. I happen to be shoot that better.

Bought a PSA JAKL to compare to my ACR. Palmetto State Armory bought Remington arms, which includes the ACR, so think of it as old school ACR and new school “ACR”. Also ordered an IWI Carmel to compare them side by side. Each will have a Vortex Razor 1-6 in a Warne mount so things are relatively even, although the ACR has a Geiselle trigger, I swapped a Triggertech into the JAKL, and there are no current aftermarket Carmel options yet.

Also have 3 bolt gun builds in process. Two lightweight builds with titanium actions and MDT carbon fiber chassis’s in 6ARC and 6.5PRC, as well as a heavier build with stainless action and American Defense chassis in .223. These might be another 3-8 months in the making tho.
