New carry gun! Shield Plus in 30 Super Carry.

I've got a Vortex Viper red dot coming tomorrow.

380, 30 SC, and 9mm

Those are all of my 9mms. The Shield Plus replaced a Glock 43.

I've got a few 380s, 45s, and revolvers, but I don't shoot them often.
Im not familiar with 30 super carry, school me on it? Im happy to see new products coming out esp. these days.

I'll ask this here since since it's kinda related , IF you couldn't carry in your Ranger for whatever reason , what would be your go to item for say a meth head at a stoplight confrontation? Good Ole whooping stick or some peppy spray ? I'm armed with nothing but me good looks at the moment but been thinking I may need more than that , as hard as that is to believe...
Not even sure what's legal anymore ... probably a stick , I'd end up spraying myself most likely...
id say gas pedal if possible to gun it away from the druggies. but it all depends on no car in front and not cause a crash. better to get away than get involved sometimes.

Exactly.....best case is to get out of the situation.......but, when that option is unavailable then all forms of defense is on the table.

ive always been a dog person and they typically like me. They may have thought i was trespassing or trying to hurt the human they own lol. I have noticed the police in my area carry Saber brand.
That's why I bought this brand. It has great reviews (over 24,000) and is carried my a lot of LE. Saber has a great reputation and like most things I hope to never have to use it but if I do I feel comfortable it's going to work and not malfunction on me.

It is a new caliber created by Federal specifically focused on concealed carry. https://www.federalpremium.com/30supercarry.html

It is obviously a .30 caliber bullet around 100-115 grains, and is loaded pretty hot. Generally speaking, it should have slightly more penetration than a 9mm, with slightly less expansion.

The key selling point is increased carrying capacity, since the round is around 8mm versus 9mm. That adds up when we are talking higher capacity magazines. My shield has a 13 round magazine and a 16 round magazine. The picture is with the 16 round magazine, which is easily concealable.

There is lots of debate on the internet and around the community, some gatekeepers think it is dead on arrival, while others like myself are excited for new innovation.

Most of my pistols and carbines are 9mm, so I'm a huge fan, but I will say it is an older military cartridge that was not designed for civilian concealed carry.

Another reason why I do not think it will be DOA is that Federal is the one who created the round and is pushing it, not a niche firearms manufacture.

A word on carry a weapon in your truck that's not a firearm. If your returning to your truck to retrieve a non-firearm weapon, you're most likely in a position to be able to fully enter that truck and leave the scene. And you should probably be leaving the scene instead of sticking around for whatever confrontation you might be getting in with your wacking stick!

If you really want a decent defensive weapon in the truck consider (already mentioned) a high strength OC spray or a taser. They make tasers for civilians too!

If I’m returning to my truck for a weapon…..whatever is after me was more than my 9mm could handle easily, could possibly get me while trying to start my truck, and is about to get a lot of 5.56 to the everywhere.

RIGHT!?!?!
Early in my career I had an instructor tell me that my sidearm is just so I can fight my way back to the patrol car for the rifle. LOL

Also…….if you see something/someone chasing me…
1: Consider also running
2: Please feel free to stop them if you like

why? I’m too old and fat to run, so you know damn good and well I’m not running recreationally!

I have a smaller can on OC spray on me and another in my truck. The one in my truck is there in case I run into something while driving, not retreating to get it. Like Dillen said If I'm retreating to my truck it's to get something larger than what I'm already carrying because whoever is coming at me has something more powerful than I have on me. So many different scenarios it's good to have several options available. ?

Like real deal tasers with the flying barbs? I thought they were LEO only?

My wife would be so pumped for one of those. Although I might regret it as I'm sure to be the first test subject.
