Has anyone else experienced this grinding noise behind the dash that’s somehow related to the heater system? I have noticed it randomly the last few weeks and finally noticed today that it happens when I change the cabin temp. See/ listen to video for example. If you have a fix I much appreciate some help!!

SSM 50083 - 2019-2020 Ranger - Climate Control Temperature Will Not Adjust With Clicking/Snapping Noise From The Dash - Built On Or Before 30-Jul-2020

Some 2019-2020 Ranger vehicles built on or before 30-Jul-2020 may experience poor and/or no temperature change when the temperature is adjusted in the climate control system. There may also be a clicking/snapping noise from behind the instrument panel. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1082 and/or B1081 may also be retrieved from the front controls interface module (FCIM). This may be due to an issue with the blend door and its controls. To avoid repeat repairs, it is recommended to replace the air distribution housing/heater asy (service base part# 18478).

Thanks! Is that a recall that the dealership will repair/replace for free?

Not a recall. Covered under the BtB warranty. If you're out of warranty you're SOL and the repair is very expensive.

This was one of the reasons I added an extended warranty. I've heard $1800 to $3500 for replacement of the system like the advisory says.

There's a youtube video of a guy changing just the blend door. I think it's around $40. I guess the new part will eventually fail again if the airbox it's self warped an is putting too much pressure on the blend door. If I were out of warranty I'd probably go this route. A $40 part every year or 2 would take a long time to add up to $1800.

Is there a way to pull the codes from the FCIM?
