Guys I had posted before about difficulties updating FP tune to latest version. I had no luck with the updates but I decided to reinstall original tune I had saved in tuner/programmer. Is it normal for device to be "locked" like it says in the device info? Just asking because maybe this is why I can't get updates to new tune versions. I followed the key on/off procedure and assume the tune is now good to go because it says "return to stock". I really can't tell by seat of the pants feel if tune was actually installed properly yet. Hopefully after break in procedure tmrw I can tell the difference. Pics attached for reference. Sorry for long winded message but am an idiot when it comes to this stuff it seems.

Generally the "locked" on a handheld tuner means that you have tuned the vehicle and that handheld device is currently locked to that vin number. A return to stock would in turn unlock the handheld device from that vin number. However, I haven't personally used the FP handheld tuner and cannot verify how they handle locking the device to the vin number.

If a new tune version were released, you would return truck to stock, download the revised tune to the handheld device and then upload that revised tune to the truck.

OK makes sense. I do see VIN stayed put while device was alternated between stock tunes and performance tunes on the FP download tool. Reached out to Tech again via email waiting response. Pretty much gave up on accessing any future tune updates and will just be content with original tune from now on. Another long story that I will spare you guys

From what I have read, the FP tuner is tied to a specific vin number. That is likely why the vin number remained while alternating tunes. Downloading tunes and then uploading to the hand held devices for final upload to the vehicle is a bit of tedious process in general.

Hang in there and I'm sure you'll get it all figured out!
