Found it strange, why is there no real boost gauge?

Every boosted vehicle I have owned, came with a boost gauge, except the Ranger. Some weren't very accurate, and none included a vacuum reading. Both boost and vacuum can tell you a lot, if you know what to look for. That is why I added a boost gauge to my 2019 Ranger.

Interestingly enough, the original Mustang Eco-Boost didn't have one either, but my 1979 Turbo Mustang did. Go figure.
The Ecoboost Mustang has always had a boost gauge. The non performance versions it was one of the gauge choices in the digital display between the tach and speedo. If you had the performance package you got a real gauge in the center of the dash with an oil pressure gauge next to it. It was pretty useless since it was not angled toward the driver and the needle sweep was only 180 degrees in 5 degree increments. On my 17 Ecoboost Mustang I used ForScan to activate the one in the display between the tach and speedo. It was a 270 degree sweep and had 2 degree increments.

FWIW, other than the Ranger the only other turbo vehicle I have owned in the past 35 years that did not have one was a PT Cruiser GT turbo we had.

Maybe a pink idiot light telling you when you are getting boosted? LOL just joking a little.

Maybe it's because I don't have a Lariat, but mine has a boost gauge right in the middle of the dash, between the tach & speedo? Seems to be hooked up backwards, though.

(It's a bad joke. Turbo boost & mpg are inversely related. Boost goes up, mileage goes down. )

That is your instantaneous fuel economy on your fuel economy display. Where do you see a boost gage?
Foot off accelerator and display vertical bar shows 40mpg while coasting. That is why computer fuel usage is always higher than hand calculated trip meter/gallons to fill tank.

My 2019 Accord Sport with a manual transmission did not come with a factory boost gauge. The automatic though had a digital boost gauge when you engaged "sport" mode. Figured it would make more sense in my manual accord than the auto.

In the Ranger though, I might just have it for the cool factor. Other than that, I don't really care for having one.

Oh hell no , no more flashing idiot lights on the dash; my 99 Escort ZX2 had a "upshift light" that would flash on the dash when you were supposed to shift the gear to maximize fuel efficiency it was one of the stupidest and annoying features I have ever experienced in a car.

Ranger should have the gauge selectable in the instrument cluster like the F-150; would have not costed anything to add as the information is already being read by the ECU, all software programming.

After years of building and racing Ford Rangers, setting track records and pissing off the top brass at Ford, engineer, artist and single malt lover, Phil Schilke, determined that a boost gauge would never need to be included in any future Rangers that might use a turbo engine.

The reason? Every Ranger owner has a built-in Assometer and when it comes to driving a truck, that’s all one really needs.
I Agree. The Assometer is the gauge that counts for most of us. Gauges, (other than a few essential ones like oil pressure, water temperature, charging or not that indicate problems in need of immediate attention) are nice, but not essential. Having said that, lots of gauges are just cool. The more the better. I use Torque and OBD Fusion on a tablet to add gauges to my hearts content.

Sometimes ego comes into play. We don't get a shift light either, even though we can select Sport mode and shift with the buttons. The Focus RS (turbo charged and manual transmission, sports car) came with a shift indicator light. After an early recall for a software upgrade the light was removed, why? Many forum members were offended by it since they thought they didn't need to be told when to shift. Watch an IndyCar race some time. On the very top of that $40,000 steering wheel are shift indicator lights. I am sure that those drivers get paid millions to drive race cars because they are better drivers than most of us. They don't let their ego get in the way of performance.

One possible solution. Digital dash that is user configurable. Give the driver a choice of what to see. Ford knows how to do this. Some Mustangs, and probably others have this.

I do find it weird the complete lack of gauges in general on this truck.
My 04 Lightning came with boost, oil pressure, battery voltage, and water temp. Yet in 2021 all i get is water temp?

Some people argue its cause its not a performance vehicle or "you dont need it" and tbh thats some BS. Knowing what your usual temps/#'s are can help you find out if theres a problem, before it becomes a bigger problem.

Although TBF my 2016 ZX10 only came with water temp too.
