That's what makes it so odd; Ford clearly has to have this has a configuration option since they're selling these trucks up there. I find it hard to believe that they are actually switching parts during assembly because that would add to production cost and slowdown - there has to be a way to update software somewhere.
I'm pretty sure that Canadian market Rangers are run in batches rather than back-to-back individually with US bound. This would reduce the potential for wrong parts installed for either market .Or the whole switch module needs to be swapped out with one that is internally wired different than US versions.
