Does anybody know a way to enable a way to have the backup camera on while driving? Is there an interface that will allow you to do so? I tow a lot and would like to be able to press a button and check my backup camera every once in a while.

My wife's Jag F-Pace allows for that. I don't know why more manufacturer's don't have that option. It really comes in handy when parking in the garage to see if you have cleared the door.

I've posted this before and the video shows it does work. I think @SubVet has done it but I've never had the balls to do it. lol

Yeah these new electronic Transmissions are Darwin proof. When I heard you can do that I immediately tried it.. But yeah you can shift into reverse and it nothing's going to happen . You can't really stay there because your truck is slowing down it's basically in neutral

Put it into reverse. You'll go WTF that's crazy.
It really works.
This goes against all of my years of training in driving and habit forming. Does not compute!

yup even older trucks are idiot proof. I had a 2002 f250 with a catback out the passenger side and when downshifting going downhill those 5.4 triton's sound awesome but my GF got sick of it one day(as the exhaust came out right by her door) and tried throwing the shifter back up into drive but she went all the way to reverse. I flinched for the catastrophe that awaited but nothing happened lol. I think it did shut the engine off but it didnt hurt anything.

I know there is a setting made through the dash interface (at least on my Lariat) that allows the camera to stay on for several seconds after leaving reverse. I made that change so I could verify my garage door closed as I drove away from the house.

I know that is not exactly what you were looking to use it for but I didn't know how many here knew you could do it. And you could at least verify that you started out on your trip with everything looking good.

I also don't know if ForScan might offer any possibilities in regard to what you want to do.

I believe MythBusters did it with a '90s era Crown Vic and showed that even then it had fail safes in place to prevent the transmission from blowing up next to you. I'd imagine it's been around ever since the first few idiots did it. That's usually how change happens.

It's a great feature to use and besides what you said I use it when off roading. It doesn't turn off until you reach 5mph so it's nice if you're with a group and you're slowly climbing a steep grade you can keep an eye on who's behind you. It's also good when you hear that loud "bang" and you want to see what rock you just went over. lol
