The title is a little misleading because you'd think it was talking about new Ranger prices dropping. Used Rangers are in the top 20 for the biggest depreciation over the last year. The article goes on to say that $30K is the new $20K for used cars in the 1-5 year old range. It's crazy to think that to get a decent low mileage used vehicle you need to spend close to $30K. That is unless you're looking to buy a used Ranger. ?‍♂

In terms of individual models, the Ford Ranger has depreciated a bit faster than the overall market as of late, and that continued to be the case over the past year, according to a new study.

This study comes to us from iSeeCars, which looked at 1.3 million used car transactions in November 2023 compared to November 2024 to see which models and brands experienced the largest upward or downward movement in terms of one- to five-year-old models. The Ford Ranger ranked as one of the top 20 models that have depreciated the most over that time span, with average pricing declining by $3,494 or 10.8 percent to $28,969. This outpaced the overall market by a large margin, as it dropped by a mere 1.4 percent or $431 in the past year.

“Buyers waiting for used car prices to come down can probably stop waiting,” said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer. “Prices have barely moved over the past year and it appears $30,000 is the new $20,000 for used car shoppers. That number likely prices a lot of consumers out of the one- to five-year-old used car market, forcing them to consider older, higher-mileage models."

$30K for a used vehicle. Wow.... struggling to wrap my head around that one.
Same here and I had to re-read the article several time to make sure I read it correctly. I get inflation and all that but man times have changed. I don't know how kids (and really anyone now) just starting out can afford anything now. My '19 Ranger (which was pretty much loaded) after discounts was $38.6K IIRC. Something needs to change soon or I'll be driving this one 'till the wheels fall off. :(

I've been researching appliances now for the past week. You'd think it'd be somewhat easy to pick out a fridge, dishwasher and range right? Nope, because they're all junk now! I'm not loyal to any brand but partial to the ones we grew up with like GE, Whirlpool, Maytag..etc and every one of them have conflicting reviews. You'll get several that say it's great then 3-4 more saying it broke down it the first couple months. ?‍♂ I just narrowed them down to the ones that don't suck the most and will probably add an extended warranty to the fridge because the ice/water usually break the day after the warranty ends. lol

Paid $32k for mine, it was 6 mos old, 7,200 mi on it. But it had added on: tinted windows, step bars, splash guards, spray in bed liner and a tonneau cover.

That's a good price and still like brand new and under warranty. Plus those add ons were a nice extra that would've most likely cost you more later.

Absolutely! There was a new one for the same price on a dealer lot a few hours away, but it had none of these items and also didn't have the Trailer Tow package, which I also would have had to add.

The entire car market for used/new is so upside down right now, I just got my used 2019 lariat back in Oct, and its has an upgrade suspension/wheels/tires on it, with 36K miles and still paid $31k, which is about as cheap as I could find in my area
