Hi @Zach@granger

I'm looking at an ESP (at my rate of driving, 8 years, 125K is likely to end with 8 years), and had a question about service.

To date, I have had a service plan through ford (oil changes, tire rotations), and changed my engine air filter at 30K.

What are the service requirements for the warranty? I've got the ford site pulled up for maintenance schedule and outside of 30K air filter (and cabin air filter that i monitor), it is oil changes, brakes, and inspections. at 100K I see spark plugs, and 150K is when tranny, rear-end, front-end fluids get flushed & changed.
Receipts for oil/spark plugs and mileage/other documentation when completed (assuming I DIY) and I should be good to go?

Thanks!

Attaching the maintenance schedule I dug up.

Generally speaking, a claim being filed on the extended warranty would not warrant proof of maintenance. In some circumstances where a lack of maintenance looks like the cause of an issue (I.e. an engine locks up and there's sludge covering the inside of the valve covers) then maintenance records would be required to prove proper vehicle maintenance. In a case like this meeting the factory scheduled maintenance requirements in the owner's manual would insure the claim wouldn't be denied.

These extended warranties are very miss leading. You really have to read and understand the fine print. For example I just ordered one and in the fine print the original warranty is taken off the top of the extended warranty. I currently have a few weeks left on my original warranty. I ordered the 8 year 75,000 mile extended warranty. It really is only a 5 year extended warranty. Very Very Miss Leading and a total bunch of crap!!!!!!!!!!! Be very careful when doing these extended warranties. The signature date is the day you bought the vehicle and signed the papers.

Honestly, I thought that was common knowledge, but maybe I’m wrong. I bought mine from another dealer and that was clear to me in the purchase process.

Yes, these are typically from the original in-service date. We try to be as clear as possible on this and in our literature.

Anyone on the fence about a Ford ESP, I can almost guarantee that it will pay for itself if you keep the truck a while. Just used it again today for a lost key FOB. I bought the additional add-on “Key Service” when I got the ESP and today it saved me about $350.00 for a new key and the programming. If you're keeping your truck for a while, it’s not a bad investment. JMHO.

You could also program a spare or two. $50 a key if you source online and get cut locally. If you have 2, you can program without ford. If you have 2, and lose 1…. You get the idea.

Yeah but if you have it done through dealer, they deactivate the lost key fob when you reprogram the new one. I don’t want a lost key floating around out there that could possibly be used to start my truck. I don’t know where I lost the key, i.e., in my neighborhood, etc, so this is a bit of peace of mind. The Key Service was a cheap add-on feature that has paid for itself several times over in just one use. Sourcing a cheap chinese knock off fob online and having it cut and programmed locally would still have been way more than the added fee for the Ford Key Service.

We are almost 1 month away from Ford performing their annual price increase on Extended Warranty products. Normally, we have prices released by now, but no word yet. I would anticipate a larger than normal increase this year given the impact inflation has had on the cost of repairs.

If you're on the fence I would encourage you to purchase now before the price increases take effect on www.grangerfordextendedwarranty.com on October 1st!

Does Granger offer similar extended warranties for any other auto manufacturers?
