Mod move this of it's not in the correct category

My question is this:
I want to put the Ford performance tune on my 22' but I live in california it's not cleared with CARB so dealers here won't install it. If I did something like hypothetically drive 2 hours to my closest dealer in Arizona, would they install it and subsequently would the dealer honor the warranty if something went wrong with the drivetrain. Hypothetically.

I’m in Cali. 2020 Ranger. Ford Performance tune? Put it in yourself. It’s easy. Doesn’t void the warranty and it’s smog legal.

sadly even if you were to buy I don't think the tuner would allow you to install... Just go aftermarket if you want a tune.

You may have to go to a non border to state of California to get it installed. I can’t buy a gun in AZ but I can in NM or UT etc…

Heck unless you have an alternative address in another state then Ford might not sell it to you.

You will still need to remove it for smog day.
One good thing about the Livernois tune (and most others) is you can flash it back to stock in about 5 minutes.

Gotta stay under warranty payed for extended. Not going to blow that for a tune.

Yeah but does it leave footprints aka modification markers? Interesting note though I had a tune on my 05 F150. Put it back to stock and it wouldn’t pass smog because it would throw a not ready code. Would drive it around for a week or two and it would never reset.. so I would reinstall the tune and it removed the code. Removed the tuner and it passed every time. They asked about the Velcro strip on the dash and I said it was a GPS unit..

Yes every time you flash it it leaves a trail. But for smog it's not a big deal but if it's a Ford tune they specifically want a "certified mechanic" to instal it. So it could be a gray area there if you flashed it back to stock then back to the tune they'll be able to tell. With any tune you're rolling the dice but most are not tuned to the edge and as long as you're not stupid and redlining it all the time they're "mostly" safe. Like anything tune at your own risk.
