Hello all -

I'm out. After 8 months with my 2020 Lariat with 55k miles on it, I'm done. The transmission issues were never fixed after multiple attempts and even attempting the Performance Pack install. Hence the question - is there any value in the used tool once it's been used to install the software? 8 times in the shop in 8 months is more than enough for anyone - the oil leak is the last straw. I'm just hoping to soften the depreciation.

Thanks in advance.....

As far as I know, once that tool is paired with a vehicle it's only of use with that VIN. So, leave it in the truck.

What oil leak ? We all have to run out and check ours now so if you could narrow it down some, that would help...

I called them asking if it could be unlocked and they told me 'suck eggs homie'. Obviously, they didn't say that, but that was the message. Their purpose is to make sure each person has to pay full price.

Sorry for the cryptic statement - yes, left front corner produced several drops in an 8 in area. Very weird. That's a standard 12 inch tile in the pic for scale, btw. I've not dug any deeper into it, as the truck is going away today. It really sucks too, because ironically, I loved the truck. Drove great, looked great - just a mechanical disaster. For those interested, here's a quick rundown of my saga, in hopes it helps some of you out;

Purchased May of last year from local Honda dealer with 53k miles, one owner, clean Carfax and solid service history.

Tranny issues started showing up almost immediately. Ford dealer performed all of these over the next several months - all under the powertrain warranty.

Tranny reprogram

New clutch

New drive shaft

EGR valve (that was supposed to be the "sure thing")

Nothing really actually helped. Primary symptoms were shuttering on acceleration, "clunk" when coming to a stop and when releasing brake to accelerate, and hard shifting. Especially at low speed on hills. It hated hills. I so much wanted to love the truck, I tried the Performance Tune, as I've heard it can help with the trans. All of the items helped a little, but nothing made everything better. I finally decided I was just going to live with it, since I had sunk so much money into it making it "mine" (remote engine start from Start-X, $100 on Amazon, was my favorite add). Then I started getting the trailer disconnect/connected warning. If you haven't experienced the joy of this little TSB, count yourselves lucky. The four pin trailer connector corrodes and produces constant chimes as you drive as it loses it's mind. Imagine driving with the seatbelt chime running continuously. It's an easy fix, but since I live in Hawaii, it took a few days to get the part. While waiting on the part, the oil leak started. Final straw. Tbh, that was 4 days ago, and I haven't seen it since. It was definitely fresh oil, and not some runoff from a car wash or anything.

I hope this helps some of you guys, and good luck with your Rangers. I really did like my truck, mine was just a lemon.

Aloha -
