Interested in buying once of these kits: Ford Performance Power Packs. Any pro’s and con’s? Warranty issues? How easy is it to install? Thanks for input!

Install is very easy. The power pack from the Ranger doesn't even replace the plugs, just updates the ECU and an air filter that several don't even use.

Once installed FP warranty takes over for 3yr/36,000 miles from truck's in service date/milage. But that warranty requires the dealer or ASE tech install it, so you'll need that receipt or service record from the dealer for any coverage related the tune or issues from it. After that the OE warranty for power train should be there 5yr/60,000 miles, unless they can prove the tune cause the problem.

Thanks for the response. I heard mixed reports on it. Could my local Ford dealer do the install? Because its a performance part. You have to run 91 or higher also. Any good sites to buy this?

That's not entirely true. The factory warranty is in effect for the full 5/60 unless they can prove the tune caused a problem. If they can prove that, Ford Performance will cover the repair with their additional 3/36 warranty if it is within that range. The end result is the same, you should retain your full warranty coverage so long as an ASE technician installs it. I paid my dealer $250ish to install mine, using Ford Points to cover it.

As to whether it is worth it, I believe it is. My wife has a Bronco with the 2.3 and 4.27 gears. When she first got it, it felt faster than my Ranger. However, after the FPP tune, my truck feels MUCH faster than her Bronco, and my MPG improved by about 10%, going from 18 to 20 or so. I always ran premium fuel anyway, so it is apples to apples on the MPG. Going solely by that, I think the tune will pay for itself by around 50k miles, plus it is nice to win the occasional stop light race.

Be sure to buy a new one from Ford. This are not transferable once installed into a vehicle as they will be tied to the VIN. If someone tries to sell you a used one, be prepared to lose that money.

I have it installed in a MY22. I’ve read people state after they installed that this is how the truck should have left the factory. Just as an FYI, the device you posted is called ProCal 4.

you can download the installation instructions in advance. One doesn’t need to be an IT guru to install the tune. Just follow the instructions step by step

I just installed this on my 2020. I love it. Just enough boost in HP to feel great on the road. All I can really say is hang onto the yellow paper with the code and follow the instructions exactly. You shouldn't have any problems.
