That would require every rando on the road to tape up their 2026+ year cars so they don't grab your plate.

It only gets worse. I disable mine and now Ford wants to use OTHER cars to track me? Time for a bit of the old ultra violence.

But seriously folks. Ford and other companies often get patents for systems that they have no intention of implementing. It's best for a company to get a patent for potential future use to prevent other companies from doing it, without paying royalties.

This particular feature doesn't scare me, but the 'impaired driver' system the gub'ment wants in all cars does.

I'm new to the forum, so bear with me.

I own a 2021 Lariat that I bought second hand. It was a dealer in-house lease.
I have created an account on the Ford website and entered the truck's VIN.
I have not installed the FordPass app on my phone.
My truck has the remote start button on the key fob.
I have no interest in automatic updates or using the wifi hotspot.

I would like to disable the telematics for privacy reasons, but I do not want to defeat the remote start via the key fob, or any other security feature.

If I defeat the telematics, what exact functionality do I lose?

You will still be able to remote start the truck with the fob. The only functions you will lose are those that are available through the Ford Pass app.
