Hey all,

So my powertrain on my 2020 lariat fx4 is up august 20th. This is a new to me with 42k miles and drives and shifts perfectly. In fact im in love with this truck.
Although i feel conflicted about the reliability of the 10r80 seeing some full 10k replacements dont always help and some $100 dpfe replacements fix everything ( i feel like were missing something but wtf do i know)
If i can make it affordable i would love another 3yrs or say 36k miles of extra, just incase, coverage.

I found the best price online was Lombard Ford but was extremely dissapointed after a phone call saying they would not write me extra coverage due to having a ford performance tune installed. Wtf!!! All legit, and the only mod to the truck besides a redarc trailer brake, but i guess no one cares about that.

So my question is before i start pricing up again online, am i just gonna be denied everytime? Hoping some dealers will chime in. I guess calling ford is an option. Seriously its a ford performance part. What if it had a ford performance exhaust or other "made by ford for ford" performance part. I would not be able to get coverage?

Im a little ticked and thinking of saying screw it but dont want to screw myself in the meanwhile.

Thoughts, advice suoer appreciated.

I believe adding the Ford Performance tune limits the power train warranty to 3/36 instead of the 5/60.

Never heard that one before. Can anyone comfirm this. That seems wrong. I beleive the the tune itself is warrantied for 3/36 if installed by ford tech. Not sure why you would need a tune warrantied lol but thats how i read it.

This will be a question for YOUR dealer, each dealer is different with how lenient they are. Even my own dealer gave me conflicting information. I had an engine replaced at 50k miles (dont worry it is rare) so I asked the foreman, what if I had the Ford tune on it, he told me they would have to prove it was the tune and I have a good service history to lean on.

Well, just this last oil change I asked my advisor a second time, now after the foreman conversation, I said I am thinking about the Ford tune, he told me they wouldn't work on it, I would have to go to Team Ford which is Ford Performance certified. Guadin where I bought it is Shelby Cert. and they are neither (Ford Country).

Then, there is documentation that warranty is up at 36k miles too that I have seen so I am glad I never tuned it, but I have seen so many contradictions that I am probably going to skip the tune for now and do brake and cooling upgrades first. Luckily no trans issues at 60k miles but feel they can happen at any moment with the reputation this trans has. I have extended warranty so I do not want to risk that getting voided till I have at least one trans replacement lol

Edit: I did my first trans flush at 35k miles, I have surely at least 5k miles worth of towing, some in the 110F summer days. I will be doing another flush at 65k miles. Seems a lot of the issues outside the CDF drum issue are fluid related, need it to be nice and clean to keep it working well.

A lot of good information in the few videos these two have done together

The tune doesn't change your 5yr/60K power train warranty.
The tune and device are warranted for 3yr/36K from the time the vehicle was purchased, not when it was installed.

My guess, is that since the truck is not new to you, you are probably looking at a used vehicle ESP.
Anyway, contact Granger at this e-mail for questions.
