Just to be clear, the  was for the first paragraph.

The second gets a  but I couldn't do both.
I understood. :)

The PBS documentary series I referenced above is pretty daunting as most installments are long and the reality depicted pretty depressing for anyone who is sane.

If someone wants the shortest possible piece that gets at the heart of the problems over there, zero in on the interview below. This woman is amazing.

Didn't watch Stone's movie nor the pbs documentary - which likely traces the historical roots of the conflict, especially after the cold war ended and most Warsaw pact countries joined NATO, G. W. Bush pressed for bringing Ukraine into NATO - Russia's response was predictable.

But absolutely no way to justify this invasion and the attempt to obliterate Ukraine and it's people.

I'm convinced Scarface was Stone's best work, highly realistic compared to his other movies....and Pacino's best performance by far :)

Conan the barbarian deserves mention as well
Scarface was great. Didn't know he did Conan. Thanks!

I understand what you are saying and being a life long righty, my skepticism is always on high alert when watching anything produced by PBS (or aired by NPR).

Also, I am not saying every segment didn't have politically biased interviewers/guests, but I really felt for the most part, the guests who were giving their viewpoints of what was/is going on in Russia were telling it like it is and frankly, the threat this guy poses kind of transcends the squabbles of our domestic politics.

What I got from this series was that Putin is crazier than a rat in a can and both the Ukrainian people and the Russian people are going to suffer mightily for it.

I am pretty right of center (just over 22 years military... so sort of goes with the job) myself and didn't find that to be biased. That said... in this day in age most people have their head rammed right up the ass of one side or another. I like to see both sides then see whose propaganda is more compelling.... or maybe find something that ISNT spun to hell and back for one side or the other. I have noticed more than a few on this site that were the first to try and sign up for True Social and will never even watch that because of who pushed it out. Even if for a laugh.

Hell yeah! Glad to hear this! Hope this helps the Ukranian's out in their defense against the Russians. Heard Russia is digging out older and older equipment as they lose their 'good stuff'. Hoping this all ends soon, but we know it probably wont.

Also if you think PBS has a lean I hate to tell you it's be your rose tinted glasses. Not everything is editorialized with a partisan lean. If neutrally reported news looks partisan to you then not sure you can be helped at this stage.

Too bad its not a ranger thats prefered world wide

There is a guy who I follow named Peter Zeihan. He is a geopolitical expert and demographer. He did a recent clip that was pretty eye opening and persuasive on an economic forecast he has for China's future that is an outgrowth of their long standing one child policy (recently repealed).

In this clip, Zeihan explains in pretty stark detail about population growth dynamics and how they affect economic outcomes. It was a very compelling piece of work and as best I could tell, contained zero political bias. One of the comments in the side bar of the video was a question a viewer had about Zeihan's political beliefs. Apparently, the person wanted to know if he was right or left politically before deciding if they found the information in the video useful.

Such is life in a deeply divided super prosperous country.

actually john milius got the credit for directing, stone was credited with co writing with milius, maybe it was early in his (stone's) career

Awesome, I'm sure the NWO globalists producing the Ukraine War tv show will put them to good use.
But first they need to put some fancy fascist decals on… like black sun and wolfsangle

traditional emblems used by the „good ones“ in Ukraine since the early 1930s or so… :asshat: …
always remember: there are NO good fascists!

I don’t know about that. Franco did pretty good for Spain in his time

I'm diggin the side tiedowns wish they were on ours here
Nah they have them here on the base model, looks as ugly as sh*t albeit they are useful for tying down covers.
They're probably the base model 2.2 diesel. Same motor as previously used in Land Rovers, and Ford transit light trucks, pretty tough little motors.

here's a logistics question as i am not very war savvy

With all the bombings etc, I am sure Ukraine's infrastructure is non existent.
Electricity is likely not working at all, or very well at the least.

Where/How will these trucks be fueled?

I am assuming by hand mostly, I'm sure some MacGyver type individuals have rigged up some ingenious ways to find and extract fuel from whatever source they can.

I'm only curious because around here, you should see the chaos when one single pump goes down at Costco for whatever reason.
Its pure pandemonium when there is a power failure, or the debit machine goes down.
You would think the world was about to end, and then everyone rushes the doors at Costco to ransack the shelves of toilet paper and BBQ sauce.

With that being said, many of us can coat check our complaints about traffic, bad drivers and shitty weather, and whatever else we cry about daily....we aren't suffering. The Ukrainian people are.
I don't care what A, B or C governments have done to cause, or inflame this war....if I could send my 12 gauge and a couple boxes of shells to a patriotic Ukrainian who wants to fight for his life, I would.
Nothing would please me more than watching Putin fail on this barbaric occupation.
Some areas have been hit hard, but they still have plenty of functional infrastructure. And a good deal of foreign support to keep them going. What this has really exposed is how shit tier Russias military is. Ukraine has been training with US SF and being provided weapons systems since 2014. What we’ve seen as far as war goes for the past few decades is 1st world armies against 2nd world, and usually dominating. This however is a near peer conflict, and we see the effectiveness of superior training and weapons systems. A $250k javelin stopping the advance of a battle group of $10mm tanks is a game changer. Mechanized warfare is about to drastically change
