Just had my two front door speakers replaced under warranty in my ranger lariat w/ upgraded b&o sound and noticed that the part numbers for the speakers are identical across the board for all trim levels. Any idea why upgraded/b&o speakers aren't going into the door speakers with the upgraded audio package?

Part numbers are the same, prices are different though. If your just looking at the 18808(Letter) number thats just partial. If you look at the back of the speakers they have more to the part number. I doubt they are the same part since there are different prices, just share a partial part number.

It could be the only difference is HD Radio, Sub, and more speakers. That would be pretty shady though.

It's very possible that the difference is in the amp and the EQ.

Most factory "Premium" sound systems use cheap speakers with tons of EQ to make them sound good.

The "high end" Rockford Fosgate speakers in my Frontier Pro4X were pitiful compared to an average Kenwood or Pioneer speaker, much less an actual quality speaker.

For example here are the part number from my stock NON B&O system speakers I replaced.

Tweeter: 8A6T-18808-BB
Front Door: KB3T-18808-KA
Rear Door: KB3T-18808-FB

If you look at parts.ford.

B&O Tweeter: H1BT-18808-EB

So yes the 18808 is identical. But you have to dig a bit deeper for the total part number.

that would make sense then I guess, I brought it up to my service advisor and he said the sticker on the actual speaker reads "FoMoCo High series"

This is the exact part number of speaker that went into my door, this would be correct for the B&O sound system then?

Yup.

I'm not totally savvy on Ford's part numbering system. But 18808 is a common identifier for "speaker". if you just search "Ford 18808", all sorts of speakers come up. The letters before and after are what identify vehicle and model of speaker.

Wondering who makes these for Ford or B//O. OR at least what is the exact comparative speaker on the open market. I plan to do sound deadening and since I have to remove the speaker to get access I am kicking around replacement speakers. I will leave all the others in place; tweeters, center and sub.
