It’s not always tire size.

You can usually avoid it by keeping your offset above +25mm or not going too fat with wheel spacers.

What offset are you running? Wheel spacers?

0 offset, no spacers.

It’s your offset - like @Rhino says, those beams gotta go. It’s either that or different wheels and less poke.

less poke will make it just hit in another area... if his tires are to wide he will hit no matter what so its best to just remove the bars and either clearance for it or go down a size

Ok, thanks for the help I'll get to cutting! I asked my local shop if rock sliders would serve the same purpose he said they would. If anyone has any objections, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Wait, what? If the Fabtech beam kit you mentioned is already installed, your factory beams would have been cut to do so (Fabtechs install differently than others - over top of cut OEM beams) and all you’d really have to do is remove your Fabtech beams.

What’s this about rock sliders serving the same purpose? I’m not sure I understand the reasoning behind that.

@Rhino - agreed if he increases his offset too much, he risks coming up against the knuckle or other goodies. Anyone with zero offset likely wanted some poke - my comment was really just a way of saying the OP could spend another hard-earned paycheque on wheels and lose the look they were after all along or they could just take out the bars.

People need to remember that one companies 33" tire may be slightly different than another companies 33" tire. We refer to them as "33s" but in reality for one company it may be 32.6 and another company 32.8, etc etc

The dealership I bought my Ranger from had pre-installed Toyo OC2 285/70's on factory wheels. a cheap ass 1.5" strut level, and I had zero rub. Razor thin clearance, but zero rub. However there are other tires of the same spec that have heavy rubbing.

If you move beyond the factory offset you are going to have to modify or remove something. I originally went to 2" spacers and the bars had to go. Once I moved to 0+ RTR wheels they had to stay removed as it was the same effective offset as 2" spacers.

This was confusing me too.

My only guess is the purpose he's talking about is stopping a wheel/tire from protruding into the passenger compartment area in a crash.

I could see how a good set of sliders MIGHT provide a bit of protection in that regard.

Matter of fact I'm gonna keep that one in my back pocket in case I ever need to justify some sliders to her.

Touchy question, are going for pure aesthetics or true off road function? Folks traveled wild Africa 60 yrs ago on skinny 32s. I know you already invested in the big tires but that begins a chain reaction of mods and stress on nearly everything. I think you’ll need snippers and sawzalls and lots of $. There might be build threads on this size tire, here or elsewhere.
