I forget what order things were in... but here it goes:

I got the MX4 tri fold cover. It's good. Solid and shuts pretty tight. We had a huge rain storm last night and there was a little water on the inside of the bed. Honestly, for how much water got, i'm surprised it wasn't worse. I also have a bed mat. One of the heavy duty rubber ones. They're about 100$ and keep stuff from sliding around too much.

I wen to walmart and got a pack of 4 ratchet straps for 20$ i think. I also got a "snatch" strap from amazon. I got one that is way to heavy duty, but a 10,000lb limit one should do fine. The one i got is way over kill, but it came with 2 U bolts. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HGCT2PM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm about to order one of those adjustable bars... been meaning to do that.

Good luck!

I like those ratchet bars.. just looked a bit on Amazon and found one that doesn't use the twist and lock like the other one (reviewers mentioned it comes loose over time due to it being twisted).

Here's the one I'm going for (roughly the same price as the other mentioned): https://www.amazon.com/Heininger-4016-HitchMate-Stabilizer-Full-Size/dp/B000FOL08M/ref=sr_1_7

In the reviews of this one, some people also showed a cargo net they use in combination with the bar (the net hangs from the bar). I didn't find a link on the product page of the bar, but found it through the manufacturers/sellers page here: https://www.amazon.com/Heininger-Automotive-4021-HitchMate-NetWerks/dp/B0013ERRT4

Once you have a pickup you will wonder how you ever got along without one. I use mine regularly to haul stuff.
+1 to this comment. My Ranger is my first truck, and every weekend since I picked it up it has been used to complete at least one task or activity that I could not have done without it.
