Factory Running Boards

Hi Everyone,
I recently purchased a 2019 Ford Ranger with the factory running boards, and I think they look rather good. I had to remove the factory running boards / nerf step bar off my old Rangers due to the rust (got to love the rust belt), but since these seem to be aluminum they should hopefully last.

What do you guys think of the factory running boards?

The guys that have them, how are they holding up?

We got a good inch of snow yesterday and they seem to keep the slush and salt away from the doors

I have the stock boards and they look ok but I really like the RB20 Go Rhinos. If they were black, I'd have to buy them. I may still, anyway.

I recently put the factory boards on my truck and like them. They seem to match the other black trim well and I can attest to the difference in keeping slush and dirt off of the truck. Makes a big difference.

I have factory boards. Like them enough. Mine match the chrome package.

Those RB20 Go Rhinos do look good, but I'm always cautious with adding aftermarket steel items on my Rangers. If I lived outside the rust belt I would get a set like that.

The more expensive set have a bed liner coating which would help with rust.
I can go with the regular ser here in SC.

Thanks for all the replies. Looking at the profile pictures you guys have, running boards seem to complement the new Rangers really well. The older Rangers were kind of hit or miss, I’ve attached my old Ford Ranger’s before and after.

I have seen a lot of aftermarket running boards rusted clean off, but most Ford Accessory or factory running boards seem to last..
Here's mine after about 16 Chicagoland winters....

I got the factory black running boards and I like them well enough.
However, in hindsight, I wish I would have passed on them and got the Go Rhino classic Raptor style.

I have them and like the look. Using them is a different story. I would rather have AMP power boards, but won't be out until fall.

I said bad, but they are not really "bad" if you want running boards. I prefer no running boards because it's better off road.

My wife is 5'3" and loves them. She uses them getting in and out of our Lariat FX4. She had no issues getting in and out without them on the Ranger we test drove. But using makes it easier for her having them. I like the looks but I'm 6' and don't use them and they rub the back of my leg especially getting out. If they are dirty or wet it transfers to my pants.

I agree. I'm 6'1 and I had them on my F150 and never used them. All they did is get my pants dirty. My mom is 76 and not that tall so if it's a problem for her to get in I'll just throw a step stool in for the few times she rides with me.

I've gotten in the routine of using the running boards to get in and out again after not having them for a long time. It keeps me from not having to put so much wear and tear on the bottom side seat bolster from getting in and out. I'm 6'1 and they are useful for getting in and out, but defiantly not necessary. I think the Ford engineers did a really good job at designing them. I think they look good on the new Rangers, but it is a matter of opinion.

Nice looking Ranger. They bring big money just about everywhere. I was looking at a few before buying the '19.
Buying a clean ''11 for $15 was a bit nuts. Saw a few low mileage '10's and '11's with 28K and 30K miles for $17500+.
