I took my Ranger in Tuesday morning for some simple warranty work. The dealership gave me a 2025 F-150 STX as a loaner.

Has anyone else driven an F-150 recently ? This is my 1st in years.

HATE IT !!!

Too big. Too slow. Hard to get in & out of. It's massive. I will never get used to big trucks. The Ranger fits right in every way.

I understand it's all personal preference,,, but seriously. But my truck is so much more drivable and so much more functional (for me)...

I agree. The F150 is huge. I miss the small car feel of the Ranger.

Mine isn't slow though :)

I will add, the F150 is a lot more refined than the Ranger is. It is pretty clear where Ford spends their development dollars.

I was in a F150 XLT powerboost for like 2 months when they replaced my engine. That thing WAS NOT slow but fell flat on the top end. Gobs of torque, when I got my Ranger back I worried the new engine had retarded timing but figured I just got used to the Powerboost setup. That said, new MPG on this engine is pretty bad, likw 2-3 mpg lower than the last one so I do wonder if something is up or maybe just all the extra traffic lights they added around here.

I used to drive large work vans, I just don't want to daily something that large. It towed our trailer effortlessly though and my wife and kids loved the interior space but the Ranger fits like a glove. My kids are still small so towing trips isn't an issue. The Ranger does just fine, it is a great trailer to truck ratio but F150 was awesome towing.

It is nuts the XLT does not have a folding rear center armrest though. I think you need a Tremor or Lariat for the option? There was some weird cost cutting but it was keyless if I recall. I would take the rear armrest for my kids over keyless.

I told my wife, unless it is an F150 Raptor, I am not going for a vehicle that size.

I should say, "slow by comparison". It just feels like I'm moving an aircraft carrier.

The only time I wish I had an F-150 is when I’m traveling. We are leaving for a 3 day softball tournament in about 20min. The bed of the Ranger is full as a tick. The increased interior space would be nice as well. The other 90% of the time the Rangers size is perfect.

If Ford would bring a hybrid Ranger with Pro-Power Onboard to the US market I would ditch the F150 I just got for it in a heartbeat.

I was given one also when my transmission was being rebuilt. The only thing I really liked about it was the ride. Had the STX 4wd Off Road edition.

Couple of weeks ago when we had problems on our camping trip, while Truck was in for warranty work, Ford gave us, not a F-150, but a Ram 1500....they didn't have anything available on the lot, but got Enterprise to deliver the Ram (no charge for 4 days under my extended warranty).
Anyway,.,,,that thing was HUGE !!! BIG !!! A WOPPER !!! Had more room in the cab than our 28 foot travel trailer !!!
My wife, sitting in the passenger seat had to use her cell to call me due to the distance between us.
Dash and center stack was so busy I never figured out 3/4 of the stuff.

The last f150 I liked was the 08. After that they got too big. Notice the similarities between the front end of the 08 and our rangers? That was the selling point to me. I would just get a 1 ton if I wanted more truck. Why go half way with a bloated f150.

I have to admit from time to time I miss my 2013 Lariat I traded it for what I am driving now. One thing is for sure I would not have the Transmission issues I am seeing now because the 6 speed did very well towing much more weight and the 3.5 was nice too.

That was a ZF derived transmission licensed and built by Ford. That’s why it was so good.

My dad has a 2024 Powerboost and tbh I'm a fan. It's still way too big for my immediate needs, but I would appreciate the cab space and the hybrid drivetrain is pretty damn good. Generally not too troublesome to drive, but I noticed immediately that the turn radius was a waaaayyy bigger than I'm used to.

Same here, I just deal with it for that 10% like you are. Honestly, when in the loaner it was more of a pain to live with the F150, if I handed my boys something or what not it was like a mile away rather than within arms reach in the Ranger.

Oh one other pain, my twins hockey bags would slide around when driving despite the liner, so then it would be a pain to reach in to get them sometimes lol I am 5'7" so not super tall but still lol

I DID wish the 6th gen just got a little bigger though. The Honda Ridgeline interior is what I wish the Ranger size was like, which really is probably closer to old F150 but that ship has sailed. With the Mav, I thought it might have been a possibility. It just takes like 2" wider interior to make a world of a difference I bet.

I put about 60 miles on it in 4 days. I gave it back to the dealership this morning and collected my truck. The parts are ordered so there's no reason for it to just SIT on their lot.

They can still sell the loaner as new (76 miles).

But I need my Ranger for a trip to South Padre Island this weekend. I didn't want to put too many miles on the loaner. And, I want to take 1 of my dogs. They frown on dog hair in free loaners. That's just disrespectful to mess up the interior in the F-150. I have a massive dog bed / seat protector so dog hair isn't really a problem for me. Window slobber is another issue.

I'm gonna sip Margaritas at Clayton's on the Beach and watch college girls play volleyball in the sand.... while Loki does his duty as Wingman. Then, Loki & I are gonna hit the sand dunes for some off roading. Then, I'm gonna see if he likes to play in the water.

I have to drop my Ranger off at the dealership Tuesday morning when the parts arrive. Most likely,,, I'll end up with another F-150 loaner.
