Well... back home now. (Yea!) But loved, LOVED driving my Ranger. Mileage dropped a bit today. But, different route. 98% interstate. And zero sightseeing. I was on a mission. Heading back to see the Warden.
So speeds were much higher versus Monday. Whole lot of 80 mph. Some 90... truthfully a bit of 90+ on a couple of occasions. Not something I'd regularly do in the Ranger. (You had to be there at those moments.) My opinion? Too fast for the Ranger. I think I've been in the ST for so long that it is going to take a bit to adjust my habits. But other than those stupid moments which were 100% my fault, freaking truck is awesome. And it was awesome then. Just too fast for it from a potential emergency maneuver stand point IMHO. Mostly I tried to keep it about 9 over.
Transmission. I see why some folks complain. It can feel "luggy" as it keeps the rpm's low. Does love to sit at 1500 RPM's. Didn't really bother me but I paid attention to it due to this forum. On the other hand I was regularly manually shifting to vary the RPM's during the break-in period so that could have kept it from getting on my nerves. And I did lock out the top 2 gears in the mountains.
Mountains? Engine runs strong!!!
Seats. For me I found them very comfortable. No complaints. Very happy to be back in a truck due to the more chair like seating position. Just works better for me.
All in all, folks, I freaking love this truck. Now have just over 1000 miles on it. And seriously wish I had to go somewhere tomorrow. I have another road trip at the end of the month. That one will be about 550 miles each way. And I can't wait!
Stats for return trip today. Getting stuck in costruction zones/traffic backup 3 different times killed my time. Still a fun trip though thanks to the Ranger.
