Well... back home now. (Yea!) But loved, LOVED driving my Ranger. Mileage dropped a bit today. But, different route. 98% interstate. And zero sightseeing. I was on a mission. Heading back to see the Warden. :inlove:So speeds were much higher versus Monday. Whole lot of 80 mph. Some 90... truthfully a bit of 90+ on a couple of occasions. Not something I'd regularly do in the Ranger. (You had to be there at those moments.) My opinion? Too fast for the Ranger. I think I've been in the ST for so long that it is going to take a bit to adjust my habits. But other than those stupid moments which were 100% my fault, freaking truck is awesome. And it was awesome then. Just too fast for it from a potential emergency maneuver stand point IMHO. Mostly I tried to keep it about 9 over.

Transmission. I see why some folks complain. It can feel "luggy" as it keeps the rpm's low. Does love to sit at 1500 RPM's. Didn't really bother me but I paid attention to it due to this forum. On the other hand I was regularly manually shifting to vary the RPM's during the break-in period so that could have kept it from getting on my nerves. And I did lock out the top 2 gears in the mountains.

Mountains? Engine runs strong!!!

Seats. For me I found them very comfortable. No complaints. Very happy to be back in a truck due to the more chair like seating position. Just works better for me.

All in all, folks, I freaking love this truck. Now have just over 1000 miles on it. And seriously wish I had to go somewhere tomorrow. I have another road trip at the end of the month. That one will be about 550 miles each way. And I can't wait!

Stats for return trip today. Getting stuck in costruction zones/traffic backup 3 different times killed my time. Still a fun trip though thanks to the Ranger.

I'm getting ready to walk out the door and make a 350+/- mile trip in my new Tremor. And I can NOT wait!!!!!!!! Jacked up and ready to ride. Ridiculous. I'm like a little kid. And.......... I get to make the trip in reverse on Thursday!!!!!! Yea me!!!!
Kinda reminds me of when I was in Iraq. before I left in 2012 I ordered a 2012 Focus through AAFES. I picked it up in Wash. D.C. and drove it home to Texas. was a fun break-in trip. Never had the transmission issues that a lot of folks had but then I traded it in just shy of 25000 miles because I didn't want to deal with the problems that were sure to come. shittiest tranny ever until bruce

Curious about when you plan your first oil change? I am coming up on 1000 miles myself and my norm is first one at 1k 2nd one at 3k and then every 5k after that.

I share your enthusiasim about the truck tho. I love everything about mine. and the comfort level is awesome. I look at the Tremor but decided not to spend the extra bucks on it.

Ok. I'm done.

Rollin'....
I'm headed from Phoenix to Flagstaff (181 miles with 6,000+ feet in elevation gain) tomorrow for a little weekend getaway with some friends. I love trips too! Hoping to find a little snow to wheel around in, but weather may not be favorable for it. Of course I head up there in time for their first rain of the year, after they've had their snowiest winter in years.

How do you do that?
It's actually easy. You need a few tanks of gas through it 1st to get your hand calculated MPG. My adjusted number ended up being 944 and pretty much right on.

From another thread here:
Take your manual calculated mpg and divide by the computer calculation. Example 21 mpg manual cal divided by computer cal 22.3 = 0.9417. You can round up to 0.942. Multiply by 1000 gives you 942. Plug that number into step #7.

#1 Hold the left steering wheel center ok button down.
#2 turn accessory power on (do not start).
#3 you'll see ET appear (top of left screen, don't have standard gauges so I don't know how or where that will appear).
#4 hit ok.
#5 Engineering screen will appear.
#6 hit arrow up to the AFE screen and follow screen to adjust.
#7 once set to desired numbers turn off ignition.
It may take 1 or 2 tanks to fully adjust to the change. That should get you closer to real mileage.

Morning!

Going to do the first change just like every following change... 5K miles or 6 months, whichever comes first.

Now, between your question and comments and my answer... this thread is getting ready to explode into yet another "oil change opinion" thread.

Hell, I'll go ahead and stir the pot a bit more. My truck will only see Castrol GTX full syn and Wix filters.:like:

Now, fasten your seat belt. And hold on tight....

HAHA. That is why I didn’t ask that question. It’s like asking which is better PC or MAC, everyone has an opinion and they are all different. Only reason I change mine like I do is to be sure I get anything that might still be hanging around from the break in flushed out. With tech today probably not as big of a deal as it used to be but it gives me a bit of peace of mind
