Never thought of using one on a truck but it’s a great idea. I have a Topeak fat tire pump for my Sasquatch fat bike... I might throw it it my truck to have in case of emergency!

I didn't want to fire up an air compressor at 4:30
Doesn't your compressor have a storage tank or is it just a plain compressor model? I usually keep a good 120 psi in my tank. I don't have to fire it up all the time unless I start using air tools.

Both... I have a big craftsman one with a 15 gallon tank. I rarely use it because it takes so long to pressurize and it is sooooooo loud. Also to keep condensation from rusting my tank, I keep the bottom pep-cock slightly open and leaking so the moisture that condensates gets pushed out.

The other compressor is a small 12v unit and it is a POS. Needs to be replaced in the worst way. I think it was part of some $20 "Road-Hazard Kit" someone gave me for Christmas one year. It's all plastic and falling apart. Probably 20 years old too. You have to hold it down when you air stuff up or it hops around like the tasmainian devil.

When I was in high school, I had a tire with a pretty substantial leak, that I couldn't get fixed until the weekend due to football. So for a week I woke up 30 mins early and "Richard Simmons'ed" away at a foot bike pump on a completely flat tire until it was up to pressure. ....15 years later I keep plugs and a 12v pump in every vehicle I own.
