Hey guys! My Ranger has only 4750 miles on it. I’m getting a squeal almost everytime I drive it. Any ideas?

HI Bubba,

You need to explain more than "I'm getting a squeal". When? Under what conditioins? Driving..sitting in the driveway, going a certain speed or accelerating? Cold start of hot start or driving? Sound from Front or rear or in the cab?

The more specific info you can provide helps with diagnostics. Think of it this way...you walk into the doctor office and say I have a pain. Where? is the first question.

Sorry, but cannot help until more specific info is available....Maybe others have a clue....

My truck makes a similar noise when idle such as at drive thru. Might be a 4cylinder thing because I had a another 4 cycl car that squealed when idle.

Hi Jimmy,

Beats me what this would be other than loose engine drive belts. The terminology squeal is a high frequency screach that continues. Not a tick, tick, not a groan or moan. We have set terminology inside Ford NVH, but the customer is not privy to this so decoding the customer becomes a challenge... There are no squeals that Ford would design into their vehicle, but sometimes testing does not discover something. This is why things like this need to be taken back to the dealer for initial diagnosis..Dealer Techs (for the most part) can then deal with Ford on a concern. Idle squeal has not bubbled up as a systemic concern nor a driving squeal either as far as I am aware.

And...folks neglect to indicate their mods...like a new air intake system etc... Likely because they do not want to give Ford an excuse to ignore their problem.... Please be honest... It helps...

Many NVH issues occur after a MOD... New exhaust for example. We are here to help but folks need to be honest...however it usually flushes out over time.... We just want to cut to the chase and fix it if possible ASAP...not 20,000 questions later.

Lol. I recorded the sound. It actually sounds like underneath the truck. Could be normal. Not sure.

i don't hear any squeal whine or screech. you can't miss real a squeal. your tires make more noise going over the bump than the engine running. i don't hear anything
