Well, I should say this is just a temp fix. If your rear brakes are squealing like a pig then this temp fix is for you. Mine has been driving me crazy especially driving through parking lots stopping at cross walks. The attached photos reflect the root cause of the excessive brake noise. It's a combination of mud and brake dust that builds up in the grooves of the pads. This excess will build up to the point that it will make constant contact with the rotor. This isn't an issue at highway speeds as there is enough clearance between the pads and rotor. However, the first instance you touch the brake peddle this excess buildup is the first thing that touches the rotor and generates the noise. Easy temp fix, just remove the pads and clean the groves. Long term fix will be a solid rear pad. In one of the pics with the screw driver pointing to the slots/grove in the pads is post cleaning. Sorry I didn't get one at that angle before I removed the pads. This is the second time this has been done in 28k miles on my Ranger. Not everyone will experience this (especially mall crawlers), but if your a heavy off-road user like myself then just know how to rid yourself of this issue.
