It appears that the FPP tune is on the conservative side. And I am fine with that.
Running 91 octane and no other engine mods.

Healthy numbers, nice to see just over 300wtq.

Thanks for dyno'ing the tune. How's the drivability?

Other than being able to feel a substantial increase in pull there is not a lot of difference. The shifting was good before and remains that way. In Sport mode the shifts are crisp. The truck ran strong before and the tune just makes it better.

Maybe they aren’t huge peak numbers, but look at the gains across the entire curve. There’s some significant improvements along the entire range.

I agree. The improvement to the curves suggest that drivability should be better. I can certainly feel the difference between the two tunes.

I reordered the Ford Performance Tune but am still on the fence about using the K&N air filter that comes with it, as some members have argued that it can allow too many particles to pass. What do you guys think? Would it be safer to flash the tune but toss the filter? Any issues with just keeping the stock filter, replacing as needed?

Ive had no less than 5 vehicles that got drop in K&N Filters the day they were purchased. All were driven daily up to 200+K before being sold. Never once did I have an issue.

Thanks for running.

I am suprised that the max torque after tune isn't higher just going by expected numbers from Ford. Maybe I am missing something?

With this being rear-wheel numbers, I don’t think they’re too far off from Ford’s advertised numbers. Typically crank numbers are advertised, and when you are looking at wheel dyno numbers it shows the parasitic loss through the drivetrain.

Didn’t the Ford Dyno results compare regular to premium fuel also?

I realize all that. Using Ford's torque gain number at 15% loss through the drive train it should be about 315 max torque. That being said he was running 91 octane vs the 93 octane it recommends with the tune. I think the massive hp gain, which is more than you would expect based on numbers and the same drive train loss, gives an illusion the torque gain should have been higher also.

Indeed the torque number is a little lower than expected. 91 octane is the highest I can get in Kalifornikstan at the pump.
But look how nice the curve is. Driveability is much improved. Stock tune runs about 20 psi of boost. The FPP tune is running right at 23 psi.
I can really feel the difference with the performance tune. I am happy and feel it is worth every penny. Especially since it is the only "legal" game in town in this God forsaken State.
Edit: A 42 horsepower increase at the wheels is rather impressive and I am ok with the 22 lb/ft increase in torque.
