Does anyone use Tow / Haul mode for driving in the mountains without a load?

I was down in Newnan, Coweta county, it was pretty cool for that time in my life but I needed to get back above the Mason Dixon Line :)
My part of NY is kind of close to GA, rednecks LOL Hunting and fishing, big dogs and big trucks, but I am only in the mid 70Fs today

I'm coming up on 20 thousand miles, my estimate is 17000 tow haul mode, 2000 sport mode and maybe 1000 in D , which was a mistake because I forgot to hit the button...

it’s a trade-off. Let’s compare temps again in January ?

It's very hilly where I live and I usually leave it in D and click the gear selector down to 7th gear so it doesn't shift as much.

I lived in the Northern Tier of NY for a year. I saw it go four weeks straight where the temp never got above 0* and as low as -30*. They measure the snow in feet not inches.

The bucking might be caused by a bad EGR DPFE pressure sensor. It is an easy fix, as the sensor is about $20 at Rock Auto. It could also be an engine misfire.

Dealer called this morning, it is a misfire. Plugs are getting replaced today. Apparently, there is also a bulletin out to cover the rear of the engine to avoid water intrusion.

I'm curious if driving in the mountains warrants using Tow / Haul Mode? Additionally, at what load point would you consider using it?

I recently had problems with the vehicle bucking going up hills with what I thought was an average load.

Any negatives to driving in Tow / Haul mode other than using more fuel?
I use Tow/Haul mode or Sport Mode when driving mountains and often just in general. They both save on brakes going downhill and overcome the searching for gears or lagging when climbing. If I'm strictly on the hwy then I may just stay in drive but what's the fun in that!

During a service in Durango, CO, the dealer tech advised me to us Tow/Haul to save my break pads. Once I started it, I liked it.

In my '21, first thing I did after startup, was hit the tow mode. It was killing 2 birds with one stone:
better shift pattern and disables ASS.

Now in my '24, there's no need to put it in tow mode, but I still instinctively switch of ASS.
