Took almost to the end of winter to figure out how to get floor heat. Learned finally to use climate of the display screen. Can't teach old dogs new tricks I guess..

My wife runs cold and I run hot. I have to change my auto target temp every time she gets in the truck.
I've got one of those wive's too. ??
She also thinks turning it up to 80 and the fan on full heats things up quicker. I've explained that she is blowing cold air around until the car gets up to temp and if you use auto, there is no need to adjust it back to whatever temp you want once it does heat up.
It's no use. I've adjusted my procedure to set it back to auto and 74 before pulling out of the drive.

The instrument panel design bothers me so much. My wife's '19 Subaru has LOADS of buttons all over the wheel and dash (Touring trim) but everything you need to find is easy to find by feel because of nubs on the buttons and/or ridges or other design elements of the dash that lead your fingers to the right place. Subaru has nailed the "user interface" design. Ford...flat featureless panel that doesn't even have adequate illumination.

Good suggestions here. Like the rest of you, I find the HVAC controls atrocious. It's virtually impossible to use any of them at night without taking my eyes off the road for WAY too long. Increasing visibility is good, but what's really needed is the ability to operate by touch.

Shortstuff's clear bump dots are one good way. I've used tiny epoxy dots, applied with a toothpick, on a number of devices over the years, but I think this might be difficult to apply on a vertical surface.

On my Ranger I ended up using thin strips and small shapes cut from 2mm craft foam. I've also applied these to often-used buttons on the steering wheel.

One nice thing about the foam is that you can choose a color. I use blue to match my truck, but you could use white or yellow for high visibility.

I prep with rubbing alcohol before applying, to remove any skin oils and dirt. The self-adhesive foam holds up remarkably well, even in very small pieces.

I don't know if anyone else has this problem but in daylight I just cannot see exactly where a few of the buttons to control the heat temperature and fan speed buttons are, especially with sunglasses on. So I wanted to find a fix for it and tried adding small rubber stick-on bumper pads to each switch. For me this works. I can easily feel each pad and allows me to make adjustments without taking my eyes off the road. We'll see how long they hold and if they fall off I'll find some way to keep them in place. I got them off Amazon.

I feel you - don't drive much at night - other than switching to Climate on the screen I'm lost. Design flaw for sure no reason lighting them would have had ANY negative affects.

while I agree that the dash buttons could have better illumination and tactile feedback, the ranger has nothing on how terrible the dash controls are on the 2 Transit vans I drive for work. My god those are bad. The worst part about them is that they're also so far away from the driver that I have to LEAN over and reach around the shifter to adjust them. There's just no safe way to adjust the climate controls or even the radio on those vans while driving.

I found 3 mm black nailheads on Amazon that work great and look a lot better than the clear bump stop. I found them while poring through lists of small rhinestones, I guess they are used on wedding invitations or acrylic nails. Dots on the top of the heat controls and bottom of the fan controls, two dots to increase one to decrease. It's nice to be able to make adjustments without looking down from the road or clicking into the climate screen.

The clear bumps look white. The nailheads come in red also to go along with the Tremor trim.
Search for locator dots, visually impaired bumps, keyboard bumps etc. There are many options now. Single and multiple dots, dashes, braille and almost any color you prefer.

Sure they are hard to find. But they aren't often used.

Auto is where it's at. Fine tune according to personal feelings at the time with the windows. Cold morning? Max Defrost. Hot afternoon? Max A/C. Nice evening? Power off and roll down the windows. Time to go back to "standard mode?" Hit the auto button.

I think I've adjusted with the + and - maybe 3 times in over a year of ownership.

Y'all are doing it wrong.
I must be doing it wrong. How are you using auto? I use auto but if I’m hot, I lower temp a couple degrees and let it adjust on auto. I still want to be able to push those buttons by feel.
