Did Ford fix the Ranger doors from swinging open uncontrollably.

I own a 4G Ranger. Still running well. Will be hopefully purchasing the 6G Ranger.
The one main thing I find very annoying besides the small interior is the doors flying open uncontrollably.
Once you get to the first door hinge cam lobe the door fly's open. Easy to dinge other cars.
Has the 5G Ranger resolved this.

I noticed the same thing on my 2021. There is only one cam-stop position, and after that, the doors swing open with an uncomfortably fast speed. I consistently worry about hitting other cars as well.

My 3G ranger did not have this issue; for my taste, the door stops and swing were well done.

Your vehicle door should not be flying ANYWHERE- they have handles on the inside AND outside, to be used to keep them under your complete control at all times, so that you do not damage someone else's vehicle.

This is a very important public safety issue, because if a police officer has to go to the emergency room to photograph your injuries, recover X-rays, obtain doctor statements, and type up a felony assault report, then he's not out on the road patrolling, taking calls for service from dispatch, or responding to cover his partners.

i thought it was proper etiquette to hold the door handle as you opened the door to control it?
or was i raised wrong by my dad as a kid?
No, that sounds right to me.

In fact, when we were children, my brothers and I were not allowed to touch the inside or outside door handles of any vehicle, until we were old enough to be responsible for opening and closing the doors. And when we did open or close a door, we were required to wrap our fingers around the door edge, so that if it did hit something else, our fingers would prevent any damage to the other vehicle. My father pointed out that our fingers would heal, the other car won't.

Nowadays, we have remote keyless entry and child safety locks, so that even people who fail to control their children, have no excuse for damaging someone else's vehicle...

We park our Porsche and our BMW way out away from everything else, to avoid these kind of problems.

It does seem to be a uniquely American thing, this lack of respect for other people's property. America is the only place we've ever been, where it is common to see vehicles with door edges that look like saw blades, from all the paint chipped off from banging them into other people's cars, or to see cars that have so many dimples down the side, they look like golf balls.

This is most apparent when watching Americans opening vehicle doors from the outside- just about 100% of the time, you'll see the focus of their eyes go the OPPOSITE direction that the door is going- as the door swings away from the car, you'll see their eyes go towards the interior of the car.

When we were in Europe, we didn't see any of this- we could safely park her new BMW anywhere...

Because most Americans have this type of attitude and could care less about anyone else.

Injuries, X-ray's and felony assault??? Seems a little excessive for a door ding? Please tell this story if you have one!

On a 4G Ranger the door works the way it should up to the cam bump, controllable. Once you are past that even on a flat surface the spring pushes the door out faster. You just have to understand the doors work this way. Just seeing if the new Ranger do the same thing.

Someone mentioned an option with an updated or revised door stop check strap. Perhaps one that came with an extra center stop location or a more limited maximum angle.

Anyone see anything like that yet? I've seen them for other cars. You know, this type of thing:

I have owned my 2019 SuperCab for almost two years now and this is the only thing I can think of that I don't like about it.
The parking spots at my apartment are rather narrow. If I open the door to the first stop it is really a struggle to get anything out of the rear of the cab. If I try to leave the door open between the first stop and all the way the slightest breeze will slam it into the car next to me. I really wish they would have made the first stop farther out or added another one just a little farther out.

Thanks Dennis . You read my mind !. Yes, a simple fix of a reengineered part.
