Dash rattling.

Well it got above freezing around here. I did remove all the insulation I added under the dash and the rattle has not returned. I attribute that to warmer temperatures.
I have an appointment with the dealer so I hope it gets cold again and I can capture the rattle on video.
I also want to try wiggling the defroster duct as you instructed.

So, I checked the defrost duct and it seems solid as a rock but it is about 50 degrees today. Definitely has some reverberation if you tap on it so I see how it could amplify a sound but it doesn’t seem loose.

Mine is the same way really rattles when cold, warm its a mild rattle. then when the dealer put the new Heater motor in it and had the dash all apart, then put back together it really rattles loud. mines has an appointment for that and the front sensors.

My 2020 Ranger is making the same noise. Very annoying. It goes into the dealership next Tuesday. I will post what the dealership finds. It had better not be "just live with it, its normal". The truck has already been in the dealership twice for warranty fixes. First was a missing bold allowing the Emergency Brake housing to vibrate against the frame (missing bolt and emergency brake doesn't sound like a good combination). Second was that the rear cabin vents were installed wrong and let water come into the cab. Started smelling like wet cardboard. Very Disappointed in Ford's lack of quality control. Starting to think THIS IS A $40K PIECE OF JUNK.

Reminds me of what they did to mine trying to find/fix the water leak...

OMG, mine had a water leak too. The tech at the dealership said they installed the cabin vents under the rear window incorrectly. They had to remove the bed of the truck, remove the rear seat, the carpeting etc. to fix it.

OMG, mine had a water leak too. The tech at the dealership said they installed the cabin vents under the rear window incorrectly. They had to remove the bed of the truck, remove the rear seat, the carpeting etc. to fix it.

Mine was a torn rear window seal and faulty driver's door seal. First they removed the dash and replaced the HVAC assembly. That wasn't it so then they pulled the door cards, A,B, and C pillars, headliner, seats, and carpet before they located the leaks. Ended up replacing the door seal gaskets and rear glass. But then the window tint installer (dealer outsourced) broke the rear defroster tab off while installing the tint. So they have to replace the rear window.. again... IT's been 3 months and I'm still waiting for the replacement glass so they can replace the window... again...
