Some of you may remember I was the guinea pig for a resonator delete. Although it makes a big difference on the mustang ecoboost, they apparently have very different exhaust systems because a resonator delete doesn’t do anything to the ranger.

With my resonator deleted I decided to try and find a muffler on Amazon that would be close to the length of the stock muffler. With a $100 gift card in hand I found a Magnaflow muffler for $75. I knew it was a risk not knowing what it would sound like. Well hacked off the old one this morning and got the new guy welded up in there and it sounds great! Not ricey and loud at all, but has a good tone. Super stoked!

When I did the resonator delete I paid a shop to do it because I don’t have a tubing bender. Of course we found out the resonator was unnecessary to take out but with that and the muffler I’m $155 into it. I’m happy

Sorry for the poor video. But you get the point

I have an appointment at 8:30 to get mine done. I'll put up a video this afternoon. Glad yours worked out for you.

Edit: Didn't work out, guy wanted way too much for way too little.

hi nice job.....I put a borla on my stock system an retained the resonator....I think the resonator is sucking up a lot of the sound. It sounds better an different but not really any louder.

Ya that’s quite possible. I wanted just enough sound to where I can here the revs when it downshifts up hills and stuff.

So excuse my stupidity but I'm learning  Is the resonator that thing between the muffler and the tailpipe? If so, what is it's function or purpose? Thanks!!!!

I was looking at picking one of those up...or the 40 series. Do they need to be welded or can I use clamps to hold them up?
I'm going to get it welded... But you could use clamps.
