If you need to secure straps without dropping the gate (and I do) here's something to try. Flush mount hooks from DCCargoMall.com. $12 for four on Amazon. An M6 threaded mount is already on your truck. They do not interfere with the operation of the tailgate and help secure a drop in liner to boot. Note: I wouldn't tie down GrandMa's rocking chair with them but they should do for medium duty service.
