Here in the states stuff like that has started to become common. An old coworker started his own tire business out of a Ford Transit and it has worked out well for him

I have to wonder how good the balancing of the wheels and tires would be when it's done in the back of a truck. I mean I'm sure the suspension is stiff but there still has to be some wobbling going on without the balancer level on a cement floor. ?

Part of why you calibrate the machine often. It makes a huge difference

Tire Rack offers the service as well. So far I've used them 3 times. The advantage for me is that I prefer removing my own wheels so that I can clean the inside of the wheels and inspect my brakes at the same time. They've never had a problem with it. It is about $20 a set more expensive than me taking them off to the local Discount Tire to have the R&R done. They carry Hunter equipment in the van and every one I've had done so far has been just as smooth as tires done at a brick-and-mortar shop.

I've even had my travel trailer tires done by them, although in that case, it is required that you dismount them as they won't jack up a trailer.

They've always showed up exactly when I've scheduled them as well. And you always know that when they're there, they are only working on your wheels. No one is going to jump in front with an emergency, or be double booked and push your job to the back of the line.

My dude is super cool, the last time he was out here, I tipped him $50 and he installed my TPMS sensors in my second set of Ranger wheels for me, even though he was just there to mount my trailer tires.

One does mobile recall service since a lot of them are minor an can be done in a parking lot. It's on for the minor stuff.

Young Ford in Ogden has a mobile maintenance unit. One of their techs actually changed Strider's oil at the dealership when I was (surprise, surprise) triple booked and I had been waiting for quite a while.

When a dealer (30 miles away) called to confirm our recent appt for The Works, they asked if we would like pick up & delivery. Not sure if they realized we were not nearby. I declined as we had other business in town. They also had a sign in the service waiting room (free coffee & popcorn) promoting this service. I did not ask, but assume this is not a free service. A convenience for the dealer to not have a bunch of impatient crabby customers waiting around complaining their vehicle is not done yet.

I did an oil change a few weeks ago in the new bronco an they asked if I wanted it picked up or if I was coming in. I didn't ask if it's free or not. I paid too much IMO (well I used my points) so when the points are gone I'll check with the other dealership I used to use. I paid around $80 for just an oil change no tire rotation since I only had 2,200 miles on it an was just doing the first change early. I'll do the works at 7200-7500 an see how much they charge an maybe I'll ask about the pickup/drop off.

No pick up and drop off for me! For any kind of service. No one, NO ONE needs to be driving my truck but me. Well, and the Warden. In those occasions I put my game face on and act as if it doesn't bother me. But to allow someone from the stealership to drive my truck? Oh hell no.

In a city like Toronto

If I lived in the GTA I'd probably use the service simply to avoid the typical GTA traffic. Gotta say, huge fan of your country and it's people. But the traffic in the GTA just flat out sucks. I'll be there again next week... and already know the traffic report. "Sucks."

That said, GTA is better than Montreal. Montreal adds a whole other layer of suck to the subject of traffic. On the other hand rush hour in Montreal can be amusing simply watching the locals and their curb hopping, this road is mine, cutting off everyone else get out of my way who needs a full lane shenanigans.

I bet this would also be great for people living in remote areas like in Alaska or somewhere where thar be dragons. I wonder if you can pick the tires of any brand or it's whatever they have in stock that fits the tire size you need.
Out here in the valley there's a local bike repair mobile service in MA that will drive to residents or businesses to perform bicycle repairs and tune ups or even bicycle assembly. They also offer classes on how to maintain your bicycle.
